Crossbows offer significant power advantages over bows in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, despite their slower reload speed. While not a starting weapon, crossbows can be acquired very early in the game. Purchasing one is the most reliable method, so having some Groschen on hand is recommended.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: How To Buy Crossbows

The first town accessible after the prologue, Troskowitz, offers an early opportunity to buy a crossbow. Visit the carpenter located just south of the town square (outside the wooden wall) during the day. He sells two crossbows:

• Old Field Crossbow - 66.3 Groschen
• Old Hunting Crossbow - 25.4 Groschen

Another early source is the Archery Range south of Trosky Castle. Participating in the Archery Contest (using either a bow or crossbow) can earn you Groschen, and the range also has a merchant selling crossbows.

Earning Groschen Early

The cost of a crossbow may be prohibitive at the very beginning of the game. Here are some effective ways to earn money quickly:

• Bandit Hunting: Roam the roads and engage bandits. Loot their weapons and armor and sell them to blacksmiths, carpenters, and general traders in town.
  
  
• Side Quests: Ask around town for simple side quests and complete them for easy Groschen.
  
  
• Crafting: Craft items at the blacksmith and sell them. While potentially lucrative, this can be a repetitive process.

Earning money early can be a grind, but acquiring good gear will enable you to tackle more challenging quests, including the main questline, which offers greater rewards.
