In addition, gamers must first figure out how to unlock the citadel's main door, as it is currently locked. Let me show you the exact way to achieve that.
How to Unlock the Dark Citadel in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2?
Despite its proximity to the starting location, players will have to wait until much later to enter the Dark Citadel. To get access to the Dark Citadel for the first time, players must first go around the Forest. You should go back and look for another way further into the forest if this is your first time playing the game.
Once players locate and free the Architect, an NPC that appears at random across runs, they will be able to access the Dark Citadel. In the course of his explorations of the Crypt, the Architect may come face to face with monsters, such as obelisks that spew ice shards. Once you go to the Crypt, investigate every room and get ready to fight.
While you're out running, open the Overlay Map to see if there are any valuable chests, objects, or resources. Here you can also see non-player characters.
Launching Quick Cuts
Once you accomplish specific objectives, you'll be able to access maps from earlier in the run via shortcuts. Take the example of the barricade inside the Goblin Village in Forest Level 2—it will vanish once you defeat the Totem boss in the Dark Caves. This will allow you to bypass it and go straight to Forest Level 3 and the Temple.
The entrance gate of the Dark Citadel also acts as a shortcut. You will no longer be required to engage in combat across the remainder of the map upon locating the Architect. Even more crucially, you can trade Gold and materials with the Architect to transform your Dark Citadel runs. Like other role-playing games, it's an endgame location teeming with ferocious creatures and incredibly rich loot. It can be accessed through the Dungeon via the lengthy Forest walk or, once unlocked, by the front gate of the citadel.
As it has already been mentioned, each time a run is started, the Architect can change the status of the Dark Citadel. Following are the options that you will get:
- You can see the entire map from very far.
- All Towers Down - All the towers have been destroyed.
- Levels have fewer enemies, hence weak defences.
- Safe Passages- Every trap present in the hall is turned off.
- Levels will have fewer elites due to insufficient training.
You are more likely to come across a Pyre if you are fighting righteous flames.
Important: the following modifiers will have their costs significantly raised if you activate more of them. Pick only one or two that really help you out and don't go crazy.
