How to block and parry attacks on Ghost of Tsushima?


Locks: How to do them?


One of the basic movements that appear at the beginning of the game is the blocking that is done with the L1 button. Pressing it and you will see your character raise her sword to block. Pressing and holding the L1 button allows you to lock.

In certain cases you should be careful since you cannot block all attacks. Some specifics that you have certain updates purchased and others cannot be blocked at all.

Attacks you can't block or stop


In play, attacks are often identified with colors, and enemy red attacks are those types of attacks that you can't block. If you try to block an enemy attack that shows a red dot during it, you will be hit and take damage.

Standard attacks can be blocked by pressing the L1 button. These attacks do not cause a red dot or a blue dot. Blue dot attacks can be blocked and / or stopped.

How to stop


Parry is also located to the L1 button. A stop is made when you press the L1 button at the last possible second. Then you would see a visual queue of the stop was successful and at that moment you can attack your opponent with the Square or Triangle buttons. The attacks that you will want to watch out for when trying to stop are those that are marked with a blue dot instead of red.
