More than simply the frigid Albaneve Summits were added in the Souls of the Frozen Frontier upgrade for Enshrouded. Although taming dogs is now possible for survival crafting fans, it's not as easy as just going to the pound like in real life.
Yes, the survival crafter does allow you to have your very own Fido, but you'll have to go get him. In Enshrouded, you can learn to control a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, goats, and yak. These dogs are just as frightened as those other animals; if you don't earn their trust, they'll flee. In Enshrouded, you'll need a lot of Dog Food Bait and some patience to tame a dog.

How to Make Dog Bait
In Embervale, rescuing the Farmer is the initial objective in capturing a dog. Before you can obtain a dog, you'll need good ol' Emily Fray. If you're still in the beginning of the game and haven't unlocked all the artisans, you'll need to do that first. The Farmer helps you craft Dog Food Bait, which is an item needed to persuade dogs to trust you. Before the Farmer will be able to craft anything for you, you must complete the puzzle in the Ancient Vault - Farmer, add her to your base, and provide her with a sheltered bed. You can find the vault north of the Springlands Ancient Spire.
It is time to begin crafting once you have met her prerequisites and she has joined your entourage. Dog Food Bait, which resembles a ball of minced meat with protruding purple berries, may be seen in her recipe book. Just speak to her about it. The following are the components for this hideous banquet:
- Goats and rabbits in the Low Meadows and Springlands will drop one raw, lean piece of meat.
- Wolves in the Low Meadows and Springlands may drop two pieces of raw wolf meat.
- Boars in the vicinity of Revelwood drop one raw game.
- Produced by the Hunter using Purple Berries on a Drying Rack—A Single Dried Purple Berry
Our canine companion should have more than enough meat from a single batch of Dog Food Bait (10 meat balls). Now that you know how to make bait, put it on your hotbar and pull out your map; we need to find our dog.
Where can I locate a dog?
Among the many canines in Enshrouded, you'll first need to track down a particular one in Revelwood, specifically in the town of Thornhold. According to the map below, this spot is situated to the southeast of the Revelwood Ancient Spire and to the northwest of the Pillars of Creation.
Level 11 is a good starting point because that's where you'll find the dog we're searching for, in a scavenging camp full with adversaries. Since taming an animal can be a laborious ordeal, it's in your best interest to clear the entire camp of adversaries before you become distracted by them.
To the southeast of this settlement, in a little higher area with a handful of cages, you'll locate a Yellow Labrador.

The Enshrouded Dog Taming System
You must begin taming your dog immediately after discovering it. Bring your dog food bait to the surface and proceed as follows:
- Use the LS button on controllers or C on PCs to sneak up on the dog.
- Bring the bait close to the animal, then release it by pressing the X button on the controller or the left mouse button.
- The dog will start to go closer to the bait at some point.
- If it takes longer than a few seconds, you might have to try a different bait.
- Approach the animal stealthily from behind after it begins to consume the bait.
- Retract your steps if a yellow exclamation point appears over its head. Please be patient until the question mark goes away before trying to approach again.
- The game will tell you to pet the dog if you approach it closely enough. A crimson heart will subsequently emerge above its head.
- Turn your back on the animal and go through it again.
- Stay back if a red exclamation mark appears above the dog's head. Failure to do so will cause it to startle, resetting your progress.
Once you've stuffed every heart in the dog, you'll be able to retrieve it. After you do this, it will be in your inventory, and you may bring it home and put it in your base just like any other NPC.
Laying Out a Bed and Bowl for Fido
By now, you should be familiar with the routine: whenever you house an NPC in your base, they require a protected sleeping area. The only real difference when it comes to animals is that you'll also have to remember to feed them. Return to Emily Fray to have some puppy chow and a comfy dog bed manufactured, just like you did with the Dog Food Bait.
A dog pillow calls for four pieces of plant fiber, two pieces of torn cloth, and two wood logs, while a dog bowl only needs one. Dog Food is far easier to make than its bait counterpart since it uses significantly less meat—just one Raw Game and four Dried Purple Berries instead—during the crafting process. Once you've added the puppy food to the bowl, your dog will likely start eating on his own.
It's important to give your dog a peck every so often. Even if the dog doesn't gain anything from it, you get the Paw's Touch buff—a massive 25 more health for 30 minutes. It's an ideal method to get ready for your next journey.
