What is Paper Reed and Why Do You Need It?

Paper Reed is a tall, aquatic plant distinguished by its thin stalk and fluffy, brown top, often found clustered along shorelines. It's a multi-purpose crafting component crucial for several key items:

• Capybara Bait: Essential for hunting the new wildlife introduced in the update.
• Material Substitute: Can be used in place of Plant Fiber in recipes for String, Torches, Firefly Lamps, and Explosive Powder Balls.
• Decorative Items: Craft unique base decorations like Underwater Overgrowth.
• Furniture: Used in recipes such as the Crude Mattress.

Where to Find Paper Reed: Prime Farming Locations

Contrary to what you might think, Paper Reed isn't confined to the new Veilwater Basin. Following the update, ponds and lakes have been seeded across all biomes, making this resource accessible at almost any stage of your playthrough.

1. Early-Game: The Springlands
For new characters, the starting Springlands biome offers the safest and most accessible Paper Reed farms.

• East of the Ancient Spire – Springlands: From the Spire, head toward the Ancient Vault – Hunter. You'll find asmall pond teeming with reeds just before reaching the Vault.
• West of the Ancient Spire – Springlands: Journey past the settlement of Woodgard in the direction of the Ancient Obelisk. Before arriving at the Ancient Vault – Alchemist, anotherreed-filled pond awaits.

2. Mid-Game: The Revelwood Forest
As you progress, the lush Revelwood biome becomes a fantastic location.

• Southeast from the Revelwood Spire: Use your glider to soar southeast from the Ancient Spire – Revelwood.The cliffs below are dotted with small pools and ponds; simply glidedown and scan their edges for abundant Paper Reed clusters.

3. Late-Game: The Nomad Highlands
For a large concentration of reeds, venture to the higher-level Nomad Highlands.

• Dragon Dream Lake: Fast travel to the Ancient Spire – Nomad Highlands and head directlynorth toward Dragon Dream Lake. Just below the lake's main body, you'lldiscover a dense patch yielding five to six Paper Reed plants in asingle sweep.

Pro-Tips for Efficient Harvesting

• Easy Harvesting: Simply approach the plant and press the interact key (E by default) to collect it.
• Renewable Resource: Like other plants in Enshrouded, Paper Reed will respawn after a period of time, allowing you to revisit your favorite farming routes.
• Visual Identification: Look for the distinctive cattail-like appearance in shallow water. Once you recognize it, spotting new patches becomes second nature.
