Dying Light: The Beast, leveling up is crucial for your survival. Gaining experience points (XP) allows you to unlock new skills in your various skill trees, which will improve your combat effectiveness, traversal abilities, and overall survivability. While you can earn XP by completing main quests and side missions, the grind can feel slow, especially for players who prefer to explore the open world at their own pace. This guide will provide you with the most efficient methods for farming XP, including a powerful cheese that makes leveling up incredibly fast.
Dying Light The Beast : How to Level Up
General XP Earning Strategies
Before we get to the most efficient method, it’s important to understand the basics of earning XP in
Dying Light: The Beast.
- Complete Quests: Main quests and side missions are your most reliable sources of large chunks of XP. Prioritize these to get a solid foundation of levels.
- Embrace the Night: Like in previous Dying Light games, going out at night is a high-risk, high-reward activity. Combat at night grants a significant XP bonus, making it the most profitable time to fight.
- Clear Dark Zones: These are zombie-infested areas that offer not only valuable loot but also good XP for clearing them out. They are a great way to earn experience while also replenishing your resources.
- Avoid Dying: This is a simple but critical piece of advice. Each time you die, you lose a portion of your accumulated XP. The amount can range from 100 to 500 XP, which can add up quickly and severely slow your progression. If you're in a tough spot, don't be afraid to run to a nearby safe zone to heal and reset.
The Controlled Beast Method: A High-Yield XP Farm
This strategy is the most effective way to farm a massive amount ofXP in a short period of time. It relies on the game’s core mechanics ofnighttime bonuses and the devastating power of your Beast Mode. To get the most out of this method, it's highly recommended that you first unlock the Beast Controlled skill from your Beast skill tree, as this allows you to activate Beast Mode at will.
Here’s the step-by-step process:
- Prepare at Town Hall: Travel to the Town Hall, one of the earliest settlements you unlock. Go to a bed and sleep until nighttime. This ensures you get the night XPbonus.
- Charge Your Beast Meter: Exit the frontdoor of the Town Hall and start engaging with normal, slow-movingzombies. You don't need to kill them; simply dodging their attacks andperforming melee hits will fill your Beast Meter. Your goal is to fillthe meter to a point where you can activate Beast Mode whenever youchoose.
- Trigger a Chase: Once your meter is charged, leave the immediate area and search for a Volatile. These are the powerful nocturnal zombies with glowing red eyes. All you need to do is let one spot you, which will trigger a "Chase Started"notification on your screen.
- Activate Beast Mode and Fight: Immediately run back to the Town Hall and take refuge under the UV lights at the front entrance. Once you are safe from their ranged attacks, activate your Beast Mode. Your powerful attacks will allow you toquickly dispatch the Volatiles that are lured in by the chase.
- Loot and Repeat: Each Volatile you kill can grant you over 500 XP, a massive amount for a single enemy. After you've killed as many as you can, the chase will end. Quickly loot their bodies for valuable itemsand resources, then head back into the Town Hall. Sleep until morning to reset the area, then sleep until night again to start the process over.
This method is incredibly efficient because you can farm hundreds, or eventhousands, of XP in a single night without venturing far from the safety of the Town Hall's UV lights.
Alternative Method Without "Beast Controlled" Skill
Even if you haven't unlocked the "Beast Controlled" skill, you can still use a similar, albeit more difficult, strategy. Fill your Beast Meteralmost to the maximum, then trigger a chase with a Volatile. Once youare under the UV lights, land a few hits on the Volatile or other nearby enemies to force your character into Beast Mode. You'll then have alimited window to clear out as many enemies as possible before yourtransformation ends.
Max Level Cap in Dying Light: The Beast
The maximum level cap in Dying Light: The Beast is Level 15. While this may not seem like a lot, the XP required to reach the finallevels can be a significant grind. However, with the controlled BeastMode method, you can easily reach the level cap well before you complete the main story, turning Kyle Crane into an unstoppable force ready totake on anything the game throws at him.
