Skate 4: How to Change Camera Angle
In
Skate, the return of the beloved skateboarding series, players are welcomed to a new city, San Vansterdam, filled with opportunities to pull off incredible tricks and complete challenges. While the core gameplay is all about the "flick-it" controls, a crucial and often overlooked element is the camera. The right camera settings can dramatically improve your experience, making your runs smoother and your tricks feel more precise.
How to Change Camera Angle in Skate
Skate provides extensive camera customization options that go beyond a simple field of view (FOV) slider. You can adjust the camera for both on-board (when you are on your skateboard) and off-board (when you are walking around) perspectives. To change your camera settings, simply follow these steps:
- Open the Hub: While in the game, press the ESC key on your keyboard to open the Hub menu.
- Access Settings: From the Hub, press 1 or click the cog icon to access the Settings menu.
- Navigate to Gameplay: Go to the Gameplay section, where you will find a dedicated Camera sub-menu.
- Adjust Your View: Here, you can customize a wide range of settings for both your on-board and off-board cameras. You can adjust the Field of View (FOV) from +50 to +120 in increments of 5.
If you are at the start screen, you can also access these settings through the
Accessibility menu by pressing 1.
Best Camera Settings for a Smooth Experience
For an optimal and fluid skateboarding experience, many players recommendtweaking the camera settings from their default values. The goal is tofind a balance that provides a clear view of your surroundings whilekeeping the camera feeling responsive and locked onto your skater.
Here are some recommended settings to try:
On-Board Camera
- Horizontal Follow Strength: 5 (Default)
- Vertical Follow Strength: 5 (Default)
- Field of View: +75 to +80
- Maintain Camera Distance: Off
- On-board Camera Offset: 4
- Camera Framing: High
These settings will give you a wider view of the environment, making iteasier to spot lines and plan your tricks. Turning off "Maintain CameraDistance" allows for a more dynamic camera that moves in and out withyour speed, creating a sense of realism. "High" camera framing positions your character higher on the screen, giving you a better view of what's in front of you.
Off-Board Camera
- Horizontal Sensitivity: 30
- Vertical Sensitivity: 30
- Horizontal Follow Strength: 5 (Default)
- Vertical Follow Strength: 5 (Default)
- Field of View: +85
- Maintain Camera Distance: On
- Off-board Default Pitch: -12
- Invert Horizontal Camera Controls: Off
- Invert Vertical Camera Controls: Off
For off-board moments, a higher field of view and increased sensitivity can make exploring the city feel more fluid. Keeping "Maintain CameraDistance" on for the off-board camera helps keep your perspectiveconsistent while you're not riding your board.
