How to Craft Compactors in Dune Awakening

In Dune: Awakening, resources are critical for crafting higher-tier equipment and progressing through the game. Among these, Spice and Flour Sand are essential, especially for endgame content. The Static Compactor is a specialized tool designed to make the collection of these resources significantly more efficient by compacting them into easily collectible piles. However, its use comes with the inherent risk of attracting the formidable sandworms of Arrakis.Here's how to craft this vital tool and use it effectively.

Dune Awakening: How to Craft Compactors

You'll unlock the ability to craft your first Static Compactor after progressing through the early stages of the game and reaching the iron-tier of products. This typically occurs once you have migrated from the starting area of South Hagga Basin and venture into the Vermillius Gap region, completing relevant trials.

Unlocking the Schematic: The schematic for the basic Static Compactor is generally unlocked by completing the Second Trial, which is often found in the Deep Struggle Caves near the Anvil in Hagga Basin.

Crafting the Basic Static Compactor: Once unlocked in your Research tab, you can craft the basic Static Compactor in a General Fabricator using the following materials:

• 10x Iron Ingots
• 7x EMF Generators

As you advance further into the game, you'll be able to unlock a more advanced version: the Industrial Static Compactor. This upgraded compactor offers a significantly better yield of resources and is more efficient, though it requires a higher-tier crafting station and more complex materials.

• Unlocking the Industrial Static Compactor: This schematic becomes available in the aluminum tier of products.
• Crafting the Industrial Static Compactor: This version can only be crafted in a Survival Fabricator (or higher-tier fabricators). The materials required are:
  • 225x Water
  • 24x Aluminum Ingots
  • 14x EMF Generators
  • 12x Cobalt Paste (Cobalt Paste is created by processing Etheryite Crystals inside a Chemical Refinery)

How to Use Static Compactors for Spice & Sand Flour

Now that you've crafted a Static Compactor, it's time to put it to use in the treacherous deserts of Arrakis.

Locate the Resource:

• Flour Sand: Head to desert areas and look for plumes of white smoke erupting from the sands. This indicates a deposit of Flour Sand, whichis used to make Silicone Blocks via the Chemical Refinery.
• Spice Sand: To find Spice Sand, you'll need to either wait for a Spice Explosion (a major, often dynamic, event where large amounts of Spice are blown to the surface) or look for purple patches of sand out in the desert. Spice is the most valuable resource, essential for endgame crafting and abilities.

Approach the Location Safely:

• Regardless of whether you're farming Flour Sand or Spice, drive to the location in a vehicle.
• Crucially, position yourself close to a landmass (like rocky outcrops or cliffsides). This provides a safe escape route when the inevitable sandworm approaches.

Deploy and Collect:

• Equip your Static Compactor.
• Start "shooting" the compactor into the sand at the resource deposit. The compactor works by creating vibrationsthat draw the dispersed sand or spice into a compact pile on thesurface. You may need to fire multiple shots in a small area to get agood pile.
• Wait for the pile to form: You'll see the sand or spice visibly accumulate into a distinct, collectible pile.
• Collect quickly: Once the pile forms, swiftly collect it. There might be multiple piles in a given deposit.

Escape the Worm:

• The frequency and intense sand movement generated by the Static Compactor attracts sandworms very quickly. As soon as you begin compacting, you should expect a worm to be on its way.
• Be ready to disengage and return to a safe landmass immediately. Get back into your vehicle and drive to safety as the worm will beright on your tail. Running on foot is often not fast enough to escape a fully enraged worm. Some players prefer to make multiple small pilesand collect them in bursts, returning to safety if the worm threat level gets too high. Using "Softstep Boots" can also reduce worm attraction.

By understanding how to craft and strategically deploy Static Compactors,you can significantly enhance your resource gathering efficiency in Dune: Awakening, even when faced with the inherent dangers of Arrakis.
