Discover How to beat Baramos in Dragon Quest 3 Remake with our explanatory guide today.
Among the most challenging enemies in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is Archfiend Baramos. Without doubt, he is one in-game final boss worthy of his name. You should not take this boss lightly only because those who have played the original know what's beyond him. Very few games have rivaled the difficulty and frustration of the original Baramos on the NES or Super Famicom.
In terms of difficulty, Archfiend Baramos is on par with new bosses like Dying Fire or Chiromancer, especially if you are unprepared for them. You will absolutely need to pay attention to your health, buffs and debuffs, as well as his attack types if you hope to survive this boss fight.
How to beat Baramos in Dragon Quest 3 Remake?
Various tactics will be involved in taking down Baramos in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, and since the Fizzle/Snooze strategy worked best for us, we will use it in the guide. This tactic uses the Hero and any other character to make the most of turns where either Fizzle or Snooze is active. Whoever did it would be best served by a person with very high agility, like the Hero, since it will only last for a turn.
This is an attacking method by a Monster Wrangler. You should have been putting major time and effort into gathering Friendly Monsters for your Monster Arena teams. Minimum you'll want to get Monster Pile-on and Wild Side. You'll also want someone to buff or debuff and a good healer. I used a Pilgrim to Acceleratle, then an Insulatle or Magic Barrier before using a Breath Weapon or Magic Defense.
Once you have a Pilgrim and a Sage Sap, the boss will lower its defenses. Make use of Wild Side from Monster Wrangler to get extra attacks whenever possible, keeping him buffed with Oomph at all times. First, I deal 500 damage through Attack Attacker and lower his defenses twice.
Then, you should try to hit Archfiend Baramos in one turn for damage of circa 800-1000 with Monster Pile-on in the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. This is my go-to strategy, though there are others. But there are a plethora of options in Baramos' repertoire to deal some hurt unto you.
Get ready for 2-3 turns every round with Prayer Rings, Yggdrasil Leaves and equip the Hero with the Sage's Stone to throw Multiheal. In theory, it's possible that Baramos will never attack you, but you can't count on that. One of the annoying things about this boss is his area of effect attack, Inferno, which is a whole lot stronger than Garboyle's.
He also has Kaboom, Fuddle, Dazzle and Kafrizz. This approach will be quite frustrating if Dazzle or Fuddle hits your Monster Wrangler. Spooky Aura is another ability of his, which can reduce the Magic Defense of allies. Even though Baramos in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has plenty of spells and assaults to annoy the party, he won't pose much of a danger if you can keep him sleepy or silent each round.
Fear not, for Baramos heals at each step. The number starts at 81, but it will dwindle as he weakens. This battle is going to go down to the wire. With the Sage's Stone, your Pilgrim, and the Priest, you could have several turns where you need a few Multiheals to be cast.
Of course, that won't be an issue if you can keep him crippled by status ailments, but that does require a bit of luck. Still, it's worth doing. Once you defeat this boss, go back to the King, watch the cutscene, and prepare for even worse.
In this sense, knowing How to beat Baramos in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, allows you to get rid of this adversary in the game.
