There are hidden locations scattered throughout the world where you can locate the Hermes Hat; this one happens to require a boat to access. To sail southeast, you'll need to progress through the story far enough to acquire the Black Pepper, which you then need to deliver to the king in exchange for the ship. Pick up the Red Orb on your way to the far southeast of the continent, stopping by the Pirate's Den.

When you have the Red Orb, head southeast in your ship until you see a few rocks rising out of the water that you can interact with. When you interact with it, in the pot at the bottom right of the small rock island is the Hermes Hat; this will give the way to the secret location.

Even though the party doesn't have any weaknesses to exploit in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, the spell parts play an important role in determining the weaknesses of spells. All the wind spells in the game affect the whole party, especially the early ones like Woosh and Swoosh. Regardless of where your spell casters are in the Line-Up, enemies or monsters with strong wind spells can wipe them out in no time.

Because of this, the Hermes Hat is best bestowed upon the party member with the lowest health, preferably the Mage, Sage, or Priest who occupies your last Line-Up position. If you face groups of monsters with wind spells, like Cumaulus or later versions of that enemy, it will be easy to defeat them with repetitive wind spells, especially on that character.
