Sometimes in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, all you have to do is visit a location, defeat an enemy, and then collect an item to complete the quest. There are less important quests, and you'll have to rely on information you've received from characters or observed in the environment to deduce their whereabouts and objectives.
One example of the latter is the Norvik village dilemma, in which you encounter something strange and, via exploration and dialogue with certain characters, discover the solution on your own.
Most gamers will just happen to come to Norvic, a village, and have no clue what lies within. It lies north and slightly east of Khoryv, and immediately north of Romaria.
It will be immediately apparent that every single individual in the community has fallen asleep while standing up when you arrive. After some exploration, it is safe to depart from the hamlet and proceed to the next stop, the Faerie hamlet, since there are no significant indications within the village itself as to what is causing this.
To reach Norvic from the forest, head east and then slightly south. If you're game to stray from the main route a bit, there are a plethora of treasures to be found along the forest trail.
Near the coast, you'll see a hilltop tree that stands out from the others due to its size and the ethereal glow of its surrounding lights. Going there will take you to the Faerie Village.
The majority of the inhabitants of the Faerie Village will avoid talking to you once you enter. No faerie will want to speak to you, and if you dare to approach the queen in the Throne Room on the village's northern edge, she will order you to depart.
But if you go to the middle of the hamlet, by the pond, you'll find an elderly man who will talk to you. In continuing his explanation, he brings up the sleeping Norvicites and alludes to the Princess of the Faeries. Following his speech, you must proceed to the Underground Lake.
It is only natural that you would like to complete your exploration of the small outcrop of land after visiting Faerie Village. On this route, just before you reach the coast, you'll see the cavernous-looking Underground Lake if you veer to the west a little.
You should ensure that your characters are well-rested and prepared to face dungeon combat before entering the Underground Lake, as there will be numerous clashes there.
On the first level of the Subterranean Lake, things are very simple. Battle your way along the trail and investigate the outskirts for treasure. As a little clue as to the direction this quest is taking, a Priest will speak of noises of weeping in the chambers below on the southwest side.
Although the two right-hand roads intersect, it is worthwhile to go that way for the treasure and the monster you can add to your monster collection.
After you've completed that route, continue straight ahead on the left-hand path.
If your health or MP is low, you will find this room of the Underground Lake to be quite helpful. At the end of the winding route at the floor's start, you'll find a shrine that, when visited, will replenish your character's health and MP to full. Get on it as many times as you like; it won't cost you a dime.
The treasures found along the north road make the journey worthwhile; after you've gathered enough, turn southwest to reach the next level.
On this level of the Subterranean Lake, you'll find a chest near the end of the northbound exit, which is one of two. Collect that, then investigate the room's other dead end before taking the southern exit that leads to the top floor.
This is the final, very short level of the Dungeon. A little staircase ascends to a building situated at the room's focal point. It features a wooden box encircled by sculptures on either side.
When you open the package, you'll see a letter written by the Faerie Princess and addressed to the Queen, her mother. Please take the time to read the heartbreaking letter that explains everything and gives you the answer you've been seeking.
You can now exit the Underground Lake in one of two ways: by walking out of it or by teleporting back to the Faerie Village using Zoom.
See the Faerie Queen when you return to the Faerie Village. After she sees that you're carrying the letter, the conversation will change from the initial line. After reading the letter, she feels terrible about the consequences of her behavior and plans to change them.
After that, the queen gives you Wakey Dust and begs you to break the spell she cast over the land so that the town can wake up.
You will be asked to utilize your Wakey Dust once you reach Norvic. If you do that, a cutscene showing the dust awakening the villagers will play.
You can tell Norvic is doing OK from that point on! Because, to the people, nothing has happened other than a little snooze, they will be perplexed as to what transpired. Even though Norvic does not have a church, you will be able to use the inn and shop once the village opens to you.
