In this guide entry we explain How To Get The Ship Moving in Divinity Original Sin 2, let's see.

You broke free of Fort Joy, got the Source collar removed in Divinity: Original Sin 2, and ended up in an Elven ship called Lady Vengeance. For now, you will need to get the ship moving, and, of course, the Lady Vengeance is no ordinary ship. She can't be steered from the helm, which means you are going to have to find another way to sail her.

Now it's time to investigate the ship and speak with various NPCs and/or your companions about it in order to research the knowledge required about the ship itself and how to sail it. To do this, you will have to enter the cabin of magister Dallis and read the Ancient Songbook before playing the song to the ship. If you're feeling stuck on how to get the ship moving, this guide will expertly lead you through the necessary steps to help you advance through the chapter.

How To Get The Ship Moving in Divinity Original Sin 2?

The secrets to get Lady Vengeance sailing are like a captivating puzzle, with clues hidden everywhere on the ship. Begin the investigation by searching the bodies of the magisters and gheists on the deck of the ship for some valuable items and important clues. A dead body of a magister contains a Sodden Diary, which has the password to a hidden door in the cabin of the ship.

The secret to the Stateroom Door is unlocked by passing a skill check during your conversation with the northern Stateroom Door.

You'll need more than just a password to interact with the door and unlock the Portside Stateroom-you'll also need a strangely important item called the Strange Gem.

There is a magical mirror, if you will but walk a short distance south from the stateroom doors. You are free to respec your character and your companions as many times as desired. If you'd like to threaten the second stateroom door for its password, by all means, you can use the magic mirror to reassign ability points and make the check.

With the password in hand, you are ready to unlock the ship's quarters in order to find the next item with which to interact: the door to the Portside Stateroom. While in the ship's quarters, take a moment to interact with the NPCs aboard the vessel. Be sure not to miss your chance to invite the right companions to join your party when the opportunity presents itself. To the west of the cabin lies the unconscious Bishop Alexander, now freed but also now restrained by a Source collar, while to the east are two mysterious Stateroom doors.

Before interacting with the Stateroom doors, turn around and head to Bishop Alexander to speak with him. Doing so will reveal a few investigation options. Choose the option to "Look at his plain Regalia" to discover a Mysterious Gem. Add the gem to your inventory, then head back east to interact with the Stateroom door.

Once in front of the Stateroom doors, turn to the southern door, and the door will automatically recognize you for having the Strange Gem. However, it is still locked and requires a password, which you found when you read the Sodden Diary. Pick the "Fortitude" dialogue option, and it should unlock the door. Pass through the stateroom door into magister Dallis' cabin, where your next important item awaits to progress further into solving the puzzle.

Inside Dallis' cabin is a secret hatch hiding two deadly gheists and a Teleportation Prism.

Finding The Ancient Empire Songbook to Get the Ship Moving

Entering Magister Dallis' cabin, you'll find another key NPC, Tarquin. You want to speak with Dallis and exhaust all his available dialogue options before proceeding into his cabin. This cabin is small, but locating the Ancient Empire Songbook will be easy since it's sitting proudly on a pedestal in the middle of the room. Your character will have a comment about the mysterious text after reading the songbook.

Be sure to speak with all the NPCs onboard before it departs. You won't have another opportunity to experience the varied cast of characters or switch out companions afterward.

Setting Sail

After learning the tune to control the ship, return to the deck and speak with Malady. Speak to Malady about having found the tome, and she'll ask that you sing the song to the ship in turn. Now that you're out on deck, go all the way west around to find the statue of the dragon there. Interact with the statue and choose the song. Lady Vengeance is ready to acknowledge your presence, allowing you to delve deeper into the ship's secrets before embarking on your next adventure in the Godwoken journey.

Immediately after getting the ship in motion, be prepared for a violent ambush replete with the most dangerous kinds of magisters-willing to engage in an epic battle with you. Make sure your gathering is filled with plenty of friends.
