Where to Find Illion's Doll in Lower Districts in Deathbound
Early on in your exploration of Deathbound's Lower Districts of Akraytia, you will find Rafaili and his son Illion. These are among the first non-playable characters in the game. As is often the case with FromSoftware games, the first interactions with these characters are typically limited to short-lived discussions over the door, and key charm in more substantial character development came later in their respective questlines. Iulia Tchevlaskia speaks highly of Rafaili's gentle nature, and he tries to show concern for his son's lost toy.
Helping Rafaili, you'll find yourself trying to pick up his lost toy from his house. That house is located very near the imposing, square door that serves as the Lower Districts' shortcut into the second Phylactery. You opened that door a little earlier, so by process of elimination you should have no problem spotting Rafaili's abode, since his has a very distinctive wood-panelled entrance. Go ahead and enter, picking up both Illion's Toy and the Sayabakn Turban Artefact for yourself.
Rewards
An Artifact and Oodles of Terror
- Mystic Effect: Grants immense resistance to very high temperatures, increasing your maximum Heat Tolerance by a whopping 10%. You can now linger in those hellishly hot areas far longer with reduced disabling effects of heat exhaustion.
- Ancient Effect: +10% stamina regeneration speed. This increases the recovery rate of the wearer so they are capable of performing extended, high-intensity activities with less fatigue.
Having retrieved the toy, head back to Rafaili's home. The scout will find his door standing ajar, not particularly a good sign in an Akraytia infested with Essencemancer abominations and the murder-obsessed Death Cult. You enter into something truly nightmarish, justifying your concern.
As you emerge onto Rafaili's patio, the sight that lies before your eyes is the heart-wrenching aftermath of a clear tragedy. The fates of father and son are made plain, and Iulia beside herself with grief. After a little time for grim reflection, you are free to examine what remains of their final moments, for a Purest Essence, doubtless vestige of Illion, and a Large Crystallised Essence, likely that of Rafaili himself. Although this might seem a poor reward for seeing so horrible of an event, the real prize for sticking through it comes elsewhere. One of the more interesting items, and really the final result to this annoyingly long quest, is a Sayabakn Turban.
