How to join the Mecha BREAK Playtest?

Players who want to join the world of Mecha BREAK have two main ways to ensure getting to the playtest. Each has its own set of requirements and possible benefits.

Option One: Steam Playtest Request

The first method for getting access to Mecha BREAK's playtest is to request the playtest on the Steam store page. This involves going to the Mecha BREAK page on Steam, either through the client or via the website, and then looking for the green "Request Access" button. Tapping this submits your application for a beta key, which will then be sent to your registered email address should you be selected. However, the selection process is random, and there is no definitive timeline for when, or even if, you'll be granted access. While this does give one the opportunity to play, there is a much more direct way to ensure an instant entry into this playtest.

Option Two: Using Twitch Drops

The path that most directly leads to access to the playtest lies with Twitch. By watching any Mecha BREAK stream with Drops enabled, viewers can receive a beta key after 15 minutes of watch time. There is a bit of urgency to this method, however, as Twitch Drops for the game will end August 8th. For players to redeem the reward, they must make sure that their Twitch and Steam accounts are both linked. Once the key is received, redeeming it on Steam will require going to the "Games" section and clicking on "Activate a Product."

Both come with different benefits. While the Steam playtest request allows one to have the chance to play the game early, the Twitch Drops way ensures that everybody gets in who hits the required view time within the given timeframe. Ultimately, the choice of method depends on individual preferences and priorities.

While Mecha BREAK has shown much potential as a full game already, this playtest still shows only limited but very promising glimpses of its full potential. This current testing phase is slated for closure on the 8th of August, which will be a big milestone. Beyond that date, players can look forward to the second phase of playtesting, where new features and refinements will be introduced.

The second phase of the playtest will run from August 9th to August 13th. The playtest FAQ says that those who didn't get in on the first phase will have a chance to participate in the second. While the developer has made no comments on whether phase one players will be asked to continue playtesting, there is definitely great potential for their doing so. It will simply be a matter of whether or not the developer is going to favor a new source of players or grant an opportunity for a continuation of progress from phase one.
