To get this weapon you won't really have to kill merchants, you will simply have to kill a giant worm. But before this you will have to take on the Blistered Demon boss and finish him off, this way you will be able to access the rest of the area.

After defeating the previous boss in Wellspring, you will have to go up the stairs and pass the Capra Demons, until you reach the area where the lava pools are and in this place the ground will start to rise > head to the other end of the lava pools and on the way you will find the massive worm that you will have to finish.
