Dark Souls 3: How To Get The Shield Of Want

The Shield of Want is located in the Smouldering Lake. Before reaching the Demon King's boss arena entrance, turn right. The shield is an item pickup next to a large tree. If the giant worm in the area is proving troublesome, it can be defeated by maneuvering it so that it is hit by the giant bolts being fired across the lake.

Stacking the Shield of Want's Effect

The Shield of Want's Soul-boosting effect can be stacked. Equipping two Shields of Want will provide a 40% bonus to Soul acquisition instead of 20%. However, acquiring a second shield requires reaching New Game Plus (NG+) or using cheats.

Maximizing Soul Acquisition

In addition to dual-wielding Shields of Want, other items can further enhance Soul gain:

• Covetous Silver Serpent Ring: This ring increases Soul acquisition.
• Symbol of Avarice: This headpiece also boosts Soul gain, but it slowly drains the wearer's health.

Combining these items with two Shields of Want will significantly increase the number of Souls earned per kill, facilitating rapid stat growth and enabling the use of powerful weapons like the Moonlight Greatsword, which requires a high Intelligence stat (26).
