  • Usability: All Classes, Companions, and Races can equip and use this item.
  • Recommended Builds: This ring is highly recommended for characters like Evocation Wizards and Draconic Bloodline Sorcerers (and other Human, Githyanki, or Dragonborn spellcasters/classes) who typically lack innate Darkvision.

How to Get Sunwalker’s Gift in BG3: Explained

You can acquire Sunwalker’s Gift by purchasing it from a hobgoblin vendor named Blurg, who is located at the Myconid Colony in the Underdark during Act 1. There are several ways to enter the Underdark, but the most direct path to reach Blurg is via the well in the Blighted Village.

Steps to Reach Blurg and the Myconid Colony:

  • Access the Well in Blighted Village: Head to the Blighted Village. At least one of your characters will need to pass a DC 10 Intelligence check for the well to become visible. Successfully interacting with the well reveals a rope leading down.
  • Navigate the Whispering Depths: Descend into the Whispering Depths, a cavernous area teeming with spider enemies. The most significant threat here is the Phase Spider Matriarch, which you can choose to fight or attempt to bypass.
  • Find the Chasm to the Underdark: Once past the spiders, look for the Whispering Depths waypoint, which is almost directly to the west of the well entrance. Nearby, you should see a large, open chasm.
  • Cast Feather Fall: Crucially, cast the Feather Fall spell or consume a Feather Fall potion BEFORE jumping into the chasm. This will allow your party to float safely down into the Underdark, avoiding lethal fall damage.
  • Locate the Myconid Colony: Once you land safely in the Underdark, head northwest. You should soon discover the Myconid Colony (Ebonlake Grotto).
  • Gain Entry to the Colony: Upon approaching the Myconid Colony, you'll be stopped by its inhabitants. You can typically pass a DC 5 Charisma check to convince them you mean no harm, and they will grant you entry.
  • Find Blurg: Once inside the Myconid Colony, you'll find Blurg located just a little to the north of the Myconid Colony waypoint.
  • Initiate Trade: The very first time you speak to Blurg, there will be some important storydialogue and you'll meet an interesting character (Omeluum). The conversation will conclude automatically, but you can immediatelyclick to speak to Blurg again and select the option to ask if he hasanything interesting to trade. Sunwalker's Gift will be available for purchase among his wares.
  • How to Use Sunwalker’s Gift in BG3?

The optimal way to utilize Sunwalker’s Gift in Baldur's Gate 3 is by equipping it to a character whose race does not inherently possess Darkvision. For example, if you are playing a Human Wizard, a Dragonborn Sorcerer, a Githyanki Monk, or any other class/race combination lacking naturalDarkvision, you'll want to prioritize acquiring this ring as early aspossible, especially before extensive exploration of the Underdark. Itsignificantly improves their combat effectiveness and explorationcapabilities in dark areas.

Tips and Tricks for Sunwalker’s Gift in BG3

Here are some additional tips for finding and making the most of Sunwalker’s Gift in Baldur's Gate 3:

    • Early Dialogue with Blurg: Make sure to speak to Blurg early on after first arriving in theMyconid Colony. Not only does he have valuable items for sale, butmentioning your "tadpole problem" to him will trigger an importantquestline and introduce you to an unexpected and helpful friend(Omeluum).
    • Potential Bug Awareness: Be aware that there has been a reported bug with Sunwalker’s Gift where the visual "cone of light" that typically signifies Darkvision may notappear when equipping this ring. However, the underlying Darkvision effect (the ability to see in thedark) should still function correctly, allowing you to bypass darknesspenalties.
