This time we are back with a guide with the aim of explaining to you How to Unlock All Upgrades in Windblown.

The developers of Dead Cells have released Windblown, an action roguelike in which you face off against Sentinels, strange mechanical beings constructed entirely of stone. Immersed in the enigmatic Vortex, the player assumes the character of a Leaper and ventures into several biomes.

You may expect to face a wide variety of adversaries as you make your way through the Vortex, from commonplace ones like Bombers and Rushers to more powerful ones like Sword Golems and Worker Saws. You can't advance in Windblown without defeating these foes, as they drop Cogs, which are precious resources. Talking to an NPC named Eperin at the Ark will let you unlock numerous upgrades using cogs. Learn about all the Windblown upgrades and how to get them by following this guide.

How to Unlock All Upgrades in Windblown

You begin the game with a somewhat weak character who lacks any improvements, just like in other roguelikes like Dead Cells and Hades. As you delve into the unknown Vortex, early investigation becomes more tough due to this. But if you run through the levels a few times, you'll find Cogs and Memonites, and those will unlock weapons and upgrades. Talking to Eperin will allow you to acquire the following improvements via collecting Cogs. Five separate types exist, each with its own set of improvements.

Enhancements for Recovery

In Windblown, one of your primary objectives should be to get healing upgrades. It is difficult to live in the long run when you start the game without healing flasks. You can conserve healing for big fights, such final bosses, and have greater freedom by evading with additional healing flasks.

Health Flask Upgrades

  • Free: Unlocks the first health flask.
  • 180 Cogs: Unlocks the second health flask.
  • 400 Cogs: Unlocks the third health flask.
  • 600 Cogs: Unlocks the fourth health flask.

Ark Enhancements

Going back to the Ark, a community of floating islands situated just beyond the deadly Vortex winds, is the next step after each Vortex defeat. In this area, you can meet a variety of NPCs who can give you advice on how to improve your skills for when you try again. Tou has the opportunity to enhance the Ark village with two distinct upgrades:
  • Macaba's Bark (50 Cogs): Allows you to change your appearance to other playable characters by speaking to Macaba.
  • Weapon Training (2500 Cogs): Lets you test all unlocked weapons on a training dummy.

Upgrades for Everyone

You can improve your runs in Windblown by applying a number of general enhancements. You can get early game benefits from some upgrades, and you can store resources between runs with others. All the general enhancements that can be unlocked are listed below:

  • Starting Equipment:
  • Weapon I (20 Cogs): Equip one weapon at the start.
  • Backstabber (120 Cogs): Increase backstab damage by 25%.
  • Trinket I (100 Cogs): Equip one trinket at the start.
  • Resource Management:
  • Recycling I (140 Cogs): Recycle gear for Shells.
  • Shell Reserves I (250 Cogs): Preserve 100 Shells on death.
  • Boosted Boosts I (280 Cogs): 5% chance for enhanced boosts.
  • Advanced Equipment:
  • Weapon II (300 Cogs): Equip two weapons at the start.
  • Trinket II (300 Cogs): Equip two trinkets at the start.
  • Recycling II (300 Cogs): Increased Shell yield from recycling.
  • Shell Reserves II (500 Cogs): Preserve 200 Shells on death.
  • Reroll (750 Cogs): Reroll gifts for Shells.
  • Gift Progression:
  • Gift Slot I (600 Cogs): Unlock a fourth Gift Slot.
  • Gift Slot II (1000 Cogs): Purchase gifts mid-run.
  • Shell Reserves III (1000 Cogs): Preserve 300 Shells on death.
  • Boosted Boosts II (1500 Cogs): 10% chance for enhanced boosts.
  • Gift Sources:
  • Start Source (50 Cogs): Add a Gift Source at the start.
  • Hexed Source (500 Cogs): Spawn a Hexed Gift Source with powerful, risky effects.

Vortex Enhancements

Once you've logged some hours into Windblown, you can upgrade the Vortex to unlock additional features that improve gameplay by adding to the Vortex ecosystem. As an example, the Fungal Swamp biome, which introduces new monsters and enemies, can be unlocked by getting the Wind Map. You can unlock the following Vortex upgrades:

  • Wind Map (140 Cogs): Unlocks the Fungal Swamp biome, found in Rat Village.
  • Abundant Jars (140 Cogs): Breaking jars may yield food items.
  • Variant Bait (140 Cogs): Attracts Variants for additional loot.
  • Updrafts (180 Cogs): Access previously unreachable areas with wind currents.
  • Challengers (300 Cogs): Add optional challenges to each run.
  • Lifeline (300 Cogs): Use rope to explore a hidden area beneath the Ark's well.
  • Cog Gates (1000 Cogs): Encounter random gates that can be unlocked for extra loot.

Enhanced Abilities

Eperin offers a variety of improvements, the last of which are action upgrades. You can increase your battle potential with these upgrades, which provide new sorts of strikes and improve movement abilities. Most action upgrades, in contrast to other upgrades, are gained as rewards for beating difficult bosses rather than requiring Cogs.

  • Banger Pulsor: Defeating Headbanger in the Factory biome unlocks chain-dashing.
  • Alterattack: Defeating a Golem Gardens boss unlocks chained attacks.
  • Chained Alterattack: Defeating a Rat Village boss unlocks a second chained attack.
  • Extra Chained Alterattack: Defeating an Incubator boss unlocks a third chained attack.
  • Crystallize: Defeating a Golem Gardens enemy lets you turn elite enemies and bosses into Memonites.
  • Enhanced Crystallize (300 Cogs): Crystallizing enemies reduces trinket refill time.

Every single one of these enhancements is available in Windblown. It should be noted that not all improvements are immediately available. Some of them have a lock icon next to them, which indicates that you need to acquire a certain quantity of upgrades before they become available. Also, you can't get level II or III enhancements unless you unlock the level before it.
