In Umamusume: Pretty Derby, mastering the nuances of training your horse girls is crucial for success. This includes understanding how to effectively level up their unique skills, which are powerful abilities specific to each Umamusume. Getting the most out of these skills requires a focused approach on fan acquisition throughout their career mode playthrough.

What Are Unique Skills in Umamusume: Pretty Derby?

Unique skills are inherent abilities that each scouted Umamusume possesses from the beginning of their career mode. You can view these skills by navigating to the Enhance menu, selecting Trainee, then clicking the "Trainee" button located beneath "Potential Levels." Select your horse, and her unique skill will be distinguished by its rainbow color.

Permanent Level Up: All unique skills start at Level 1. For one- or two-star Umamusume, you can permanently raise their unique skill to Level 2 by increasing their star level using star pieces.
Temporary Level Up in Career Mode: Level 2 is the highest permanent level. To achieve higher levels and greater effectiveness, you'll need to temporarily raise the skill's level during each individual career playthrough.

How to Raise Unique Skills in Career Mode

The primary way to increase your unique skill's level in career mode is by accumulating a sufficient number of fans. The skill's level is checked and raised at specific points during a playthrough if you meet the required fan threshold.A notable exception to the fan requirements is Umamusume with a Dirt-aptitude of A or higher. These girls require fewer fans to level up their unique skills. Currently, Haru Urara is the only Umamusume that meets this requirement, though more are planned for future additions to the game.Here are the fan number thresholds and prerequisites for leveling up unique skills in career mode:
