How to Get the Free Hairpin Outfit in Fortnite

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 has immersed players in a dynamic superhero-themed experience with new map features, gadgets, and powers. As part of the ongoing Summer Road Trip event, players have the opportunity to earn exclusive cosmetic rewards for both Fortnite and Rocket League. While many rewards are unlocked directly in Fortnite, the Hairpin Outfit is a unique cross-game reward that requires players to venture into Rocket League.

Fortnite: How to Get the Free Hairpin Outfit

Unlike most Fortnite Summer Road Trip rewards that are earned by completing quests within Fortnite itself, the Hairpin Outfit is exclusively unlocked through challenges in Rocket League's Summer Road Trip Event. Players must ensure they are using the same Epic Account for both games to receive the rewards in Fortnite.There are two Fortnite-exclusive rewards obtainable through Rocket League:

• League Balloon Glider: Play a private match with custom mutators during the Summer Road Trip event in Rocket League.
• Hairpin Outfit: Get 15 saves or epic saves in Online Matches during the Summer Road Trip event in Rocket League.

Once these specific challenges are completed in Rocket League, the League Balloon Glider and the Hairpin Outfit will be immediately unlocked in your Fortnite locker.

Completing challenges in Rocket League's Summer Road Trip event also grants Rocket League-specific rewards, with one also transferring to Fortnite:

How to Play a Private Match with Custom Mutators in Rocket League

To earn the League Balloon Glider for Fortnite (and the Maddening MutatorTitle in Rocket League), follow these steps to set up and play a private match with custom mutators:

From the Rocket League main menu, select "Play."

Navigate to "Private Match."

Select "Create Private Match."

If playing solo, ensure the "Bot Difficulty" is set to any value other than "No Bots."

Go to "Mutator Settings" and change at least one setting from its default value. For example, you can change Max Score to 1 Goal, or adjust the Boost Amount.

Go back to the previous screen and select "Create Match."

Play through the private match until it concludes to complete the objective.

How to Get Saves or Epic Saves in Online Matches in Rocket League

To earn the Hairpin Outfit for Fortnite (and the Hawaiian ShirtConnoisseur Title in Rocket League), you need to accumulate 15 saves orepic saves in online matches:

• Basic Saves: A "Save" occurs when you stop the ball from entering your team's goalwhile it's close to scoring. An "Epic Save" is awarded for morechallenging deflections. Both types count towards the total.
• General Strategy: Play any online mode and focus on defending your goal. Staying nearyour goal and deflecting incoming shots will naturally contribute toyour save count.
• Farming Saves (Recommended): The most efficient way to quickly rack up saves and epic saves is to play Heatseeker Doubles in the Casual Playlist. In Heatseeker, the ball automatically targets the nearest goal aftereach touch, making it much easier to position yourself for saves. Sticknear your goal to continually deflect the ball.

Once you achieve a combined total of 15 Saves or Epic Saves, the HairpinOutfit will be awarded to your Fortnite account upon loading into thegame.

Event End Date:

The Rocket League Summer Road Trip event and its associated rewards areavailable until August 5, 2025. Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 is expectedto end on August 7 or 8, 2025, marking the conclusion of the broaderSummer Road Trip festivities.

Future Availability:

While this event offers a limited-time opportunity to get the Hairpin Outfitand League Balloon Glider for free, these items may also becomeavailable for purchase in the Fortnite Item Shop at a later date.
