How to Get Star Pieces in Umamusume

In Umamusume Pretty Derby, Star Pieces are a crucial currency for various essential tasks, including unlocking new characters, increasing their potential (star level), and purchasing valuable upgrade materials from the in-game shop. They are highly prioritized due to their versatility and impact on your Umamusume's performance.

How to Get Star Pieces in Umamusume Pretty Derby

There are several methods to acquire Star Pieces:

Exchange for Statues: This is the primary way to obtain Star Pieces. When you perform gacha pulls in the Scout menu and receive a duplicate of an Umamusume you already own, you will receive a Statue for that character. These Statues can then be exchanged for Star Pieces of the corresponding Umamusume in the game's shop under the "Statue Exchange" section. Statues can also sometimes be collected by progressing through Career Mode.

Join in Legends Races: Participating in Legends Races (found in the "Race Events" section) is another reliable source. Winning these challenging races rewards you with Star Pieces for the featured Umamusume, along with Carats and Coins. For your first victory in a Legends Race, you can receive a significant First Win Bonus of up to 10 Star Pieces.

Trade for Friend Points: You can sometimes find Star Pieces available for purchase in the Friend Point Exchange section of the game shop. Friend Points are easily accumulated by lending your Support Cards to other players or by participating in Team Trials.

Exchange for Club Points: Star Pieces occasionally appear in the Club Points Exchange. To buy them, you'll need Club Points, which are primarily earned through the "Club Rewards" menu (unlocked once your Team Rank reaches E3). You can also gain Club Points by borrowing Legacy Umamusume from other players during training.

Shop at Daily Sales: The Daily Sales shop can also offer Star Pieces. This shop becomes accessible automatically after you participate in a "normal race" (these are distinct from Career races and can be found in the main "Race" menu). After completing such a race, you can visit the Game Shop to access the Daily Sales and purchase fragments using Monies. Note that you typically get three daily deals from this shop.

How to Use Star Pieces in Umamusume Pretty Derby

Star Pieces have several vital uses that directly enhance your Umamusume:

• Unlock New Characters: The most impactful use of Star Pieces is to unlock new Umamusume characters for training. You will need 150 matching Star Pieces for a specific Umamusume to unlock her if you don't already own her.
• Star Unlocks (Increase Potential/Star Level): Once you have acquired a character, additional Star Pieces for thatUmamusume can be used for "Star Unlocks." This process increases their base attributes (Speed, Stamina, Power, Guts, and Wit), making them significantly stronger from the start of a training run.
  • Star Unlocks also polish and transform a character's unique skill into an even more powerful version, providing a greater advantage during races.
  • Reaching at least three stars on a character's profile will unlock their unique race outfit, adding a cosmetic reward.
  • Furthermore, if a three-star (or higher) Umamusume becomes a Legacy Umamusume, she can pass down her improved unique skill to new trainees as a Green Spark, which is a powerful inheritance bonus.
• Trade for Clovers: If you have maxed out a specific Umamusume's Star Level and still have leftover Star Pieces for her, you can trade them for Clovers in the "Star Piece Storage" section of the shop. Clovers are a generalshop currency that can be exchanged for various other valuable items,including Scout Tickets, Sashes, Energy Drinks, and Monies. This ensures that even excess Star Pieces remain useful.
