Although many inhabitants of the Zone will open fire upon seeing you, you can avoid their bullets by ambushing them in the dark. At this point, stealth takedowns become useful.
If you're looking for an immersive simulation with stealth features, you'll love this one. You can use your knife to sneak up on foes and quiet them whenever you want. Everyone should know how to perform stealth takedowns because they are incredibly useful on the hardest difficulty setting in Stalker 2.
You can use Skif's knife for more than just chopping wood and crates. In order to avoid engaging a whole enemy camp, you can perform a stealth kill by sneaking up behind an adversary, drawing your knife, and pressing the Fire button. Do not assault Skif until he raises his knife. Otherwise, he'll resort to a standard knife assault, which really has a quite low probability of completely eliminating an opponent.
Be sure no adversaries are in your way, or that those that are looking away, because the animations for knife takedowns take a bit to finish.
