Learn the essential steps to build a bridge with Roadcraft. Discover expert tips and techniques for successful bridge construction.
In Roadcraft, you assume the role of a company leader dedicated to restoring areas devastated by natural disasters. This crucial job involves extensive travel and, more importantly, significant construction efforts. Among the structures you'll regularly construct are
bridges, which are vital for facilitating restoration efforts in disaster-hit zones and dramatically improving overall connectivity across the landscape. While the game introduces bridge-building early on, the sheer volume of tutorials can sometimes lead to confusion. Fortunately, the process of constructing a bridge in Roadcraft is quite straightforward once you understand the menu navigation and resource requirements. This guide will clarify how to build bridges and outline the different types available to you.
Roadcraft: How To Build a Bridge
Before you initiate construction, the first step is to decide on the type of bridge you intend to build. Roadcraft offers three distinct bridge types, each with its own resource requirements and specific placement conditions:
1. Wooden Bridges
- Requirements: These are the simplest bridges to construct, requiring only logs.
- Resource Collection: Logs can be collected using your Tree Harvester machines. Simply approach any tree with the machine, and it will chip the tree down into a usable log for you.
- Placement: Generally flexible, suitable for crossing smaller gaps or rougher terrain where a more complex structure isn't needed.
2. Concrete Bridges
- Requirements: These bridges require concrete slabs.
- Placement Conditions: Concrete Bridges are specifically designed to be built over two flat surfaces. This means they must be placed between two existing concreteconnections or flattened sand areas. They require stable, preparedground on both ends.
3. Metal Bridges
- Requirements: These bridges primarily require metal slabs.
- Placement Conditions: Metal Bridges are relatively simple to build and do not have anyspecific placement conditions like their concrete counterparts. Thismakes them versatile for various terrains and gaps.
Building Process Once Your Type is Finalized:
Once you've decided on the bridge type and gathered the necessary resources, follow these steps to construct it:
Open the Main Menu: Access the game's main menu.Navigate to the "Bridge" Tab: Cycle through the available tabs until you find and select the "Bridge" tab.Select Your Desired Bridge: From the options presented, choose the specific type of bridge (Wooden, Concrete, or Metal) you wish to build.Choose a Starting Point: After selecting the bridge type, you will then need to choose a starting point for your bridge in the game world. Position your cursor over the desired location and confirm.Select the Endpoint: Next, move your cursor to select the endpoint for your bridge. The game will show a preview of the bridge connecting the two points.Blueprint is Ready: Once both the starting and ending points are confirmed, your bridge blueprint will be ready.Deliver Resources and Construct: Finally, you must carry the required resources (logs, concrete slabs, or metal slabs) to the planned bridge site. Place these resources on either end of the bridge blueprint to initiate and complete its construction.By understanding the different bridge types and following thesestraightforward steps, you'll efficiently construct vital connectionsacross the disaster-stricken lands, significantly aiding your company'srestoration efforts in Roadcraft.
