Where To Find the Sentient Catalyst

Sentient Catalysts are extremely rare and cannot be crafted.Their limited availability means you'll need to be strategic about which animals you choose to upgrade. You can randomly find them through:

• Ultrafaction traders: These high-tech traders may occasionally carry a Sentient Catalyst for purchase.
• Quest rewards: Completing certain quests might offer a Sentient Catalyst as a reward.
• Salvage from old and derelict ships: Exploring and salvaging from crashed or abandoned spaceships can sometimes yield this valuable item.

Best Animals To Upgrade

The Sentient Catalyst is best used on animals that are typically untrainable for work tasks. Using it on animals that can already be trained forhauling or guarding (like Huskies or Bears) would be a waste of thisprecious consumable. Consider these good picks for the SentientCatalyst:

• Walrus: Slow but boasts high health, making it suitable for both hauling heavy loads and participating in combat.
• Crow: Known for being sneaky and clever, making them excellent scavengers.
• Peacock: Offers a great beauty score, which can positively influence colonist mood, and can also be trained for hauling.
• Flamingo: Fast and agile, making them ideal for running supply lines or dodging attacks in combat.
• Cat or Dog: While many domesticated variants are already trainable, using acatalyst on certain wild or unique variants can unlock enhancedcapabilities, such as gaining frequent mood boosts from nuzzlingcolonists more often.

Each animal species will gain adifferent combination of jobs and passive effects from the injection,making the choice an interesting tactical decision. For example,alligators, typically too simple-brained to train, can become loyalbodyguards with the catalyst.

How To Use the Sentient Catalyst

Applying a Sentient Catalyst in RimWorld Odyssey is a straightforward process:

Select your desired animal.

Use the catalyst as a drug. (This implies selecting the catalyst in your inventory and thentargeting the animal, or having a colonist administer it to the animal.)

Open the animal's training tab. You will now see new training options available.

Assign tasks and begin training the animal through your colonists.

Beyond standard tasks, some animals may also unlock unique abilities after the catalyst injection, depending on their species. These trained animals can then be assigned jobs through animal zones or given directcommands in combat.
