Rimworld Odyssey: How To Use Oxygen Pumps

Oxygen Pumps are not available from the start; they require a specific research project to unlock:

Research the "Orbital tech" Project: To unlock Oxygen Pumps, you must research the "Orbital tech" project within your Research tab.

High-Tech Research Bench: This research requires a high-tech research bench to be conducted. Ensure your colony has one set up.

Additional Unlocks: Beyond Oxygen Pumps, the "Orbital tech" project also unlocks other vital orbital utilities, including:

• Orbital scanner
• Vac barrier
• Vacsuit
• Vacsuit helmet

Construction Requirements: Once the research is complete, you can construct an Oxygen Pump using:

• 100 Steel
• 2 Components

How To Use Oxygen Pumps in Rimworld Odyssey

Oxygen Pumps are crucial for creating breathable environments within sealed areas in space. Here's how to use them effectively:

• Pressurization and Air Production: Oxygen Pumps work by pressurizing the room they are installed in. Theyactively reduce vacuum levels and produce breathable air.
• Power Requirement: They require a continuous supply of power to operate. Ensure your gravship's power grid can support them.
• Sealed Rooms Only: Oxygen Pumps function only inside a sealed room or gravship compartment. Any openings to the outside vacuum will prevent them from effectively pressurizing the area, causing oxygen to leak out.
• No Air Transfer Between Rooms (Directly): While an Oxygen Pump pressurizes its immediate room, oxygen generally does not transfer automatically between separate sealed rooms. This means for multi-room gravships or space bases, you will likelyneed to construct multiple Oxygen Pumps, one for each enclosedcompartment that needs to be pressurized. Larger rooms may even requiremore than one pump to maintain optimal oxygen levels. However, if doorsbetween sealed rooms are left open or pawns frequently pass throughthem, oxygen can gradually spread between connected rooms.
