The majestic Xerneas, the legendary Life Pokémon, stands as one of the most coveted captures in Pokémon Legends Z-A. While the game focuses on a tighter Pokédex, this Fairy-type titan from the Kalos region is waiting for you—but only after you've proven your worth. This guide will walk you through the exact steps to add Xerneas to your team. Be warned: the path to this legendary encounter is a post-game adventure, so major spoilers for the endgame lie ahead!
The Path to the Post-Game Quest
Your journey begins only after you've seen the credits roll. The key is the new
Infinite Z-A Royale feature. This mode lets you battle trainers in Battle Zones at night, earning points and special rewards from the organization known as Quasartico.Your first goal is to earn 50,000 points to receive a
Challenger's Ticket. Take this ticket to Quasartico and present it to the male attendant at the desk to challenge a powerful trainer named Zach the Driver. After your victory, you'll receive a call from Lida, directing you to Hotel Z for a crucial meeting. This meeting unlocks two new Main Missions. To find Xerneas, you must pursue the quest titled
"The One That Gives." Head to the Research Lab next to Wild Zone 1 and speak with Mable to get started.
The Hunt for the Anomalous Alphas
Mable will task you with a special investigation: tracking down and defeating three enraged Alpha Pokémon scattered across the urban wilds.
- Wild Zone 3 (Rouge District): Here, you'll find a ferocious Alpha Steelix dominating the central area. Bring strong Fighting, Ground, Fire, or Water-type moves to topple this metallic beast quickly.
- Wild Zone 5: Your target in this zone is a powerful Alpha Gallade. It patrols the main area, and while a strategic sneak-attack with anUltra Ball can work, be prepared for a fight. Fairy, Flying, andGhost-type attacks are your best bet.
- Wild Zone 9: This hunt requires some parkour! You're looking for an Alpha Pangoro lurking on the rooftops. Find a ladder in the northwestern part of thezone, climb up, and head left across the roofs to find it. This brawleris weak to Fighting, Fairy, and Flying-type moves.
The Final Confrontation: Battling Xerneas
Once all three Alphas are defeated, report back to Mable. She will direct you to your ultimate destination: Wild Zone 11.
Travel to Wild Zone 11 and head to the objective marker by the river. Acutscene will trigger, revealing the breathtaking Xerneas in all itsglory. The battle for the Legendary Pokémon is about to begin!
Pro-Tips for a Successful Capture
Come Prepared: Xerneas is a pure Fairy-type, making it vulnerable to Poison and Steel-type moves. Ensure your team is healed and ready for a tough fight, as its powerful attacks can easily overwhelm an unprepared squad.Don't Hold Back: This is not the time for a standard Poké Ball. Xerneas has a notoriously low catch rate. Use your best balls—Ultra Balls are highly recommended to maximize your chances. No Permanent Failures: Don't panic if you accidentally knock it out or your first few ballsfail. The game is designed to let you retry the battle until yousuccessfully make the capture, so you cannot miss your chancepermanently.Follow these steps, and the power of the legendary Xerneas will be yours. Good luck, Trainer
