If you want your normal friend to become a good friend, you will have to feed them berries, from there on to increase the level of friendship you will have to earn their affection, this can be measured in the hearts that are on the new friends profile page.

You can get hearts of affection in the following way:

  • Take pictures of your friend.
  • Walking with your friend.
  • Exploring the map with your friend.
  • Fighting with them.
  • Playing with them in AR+ mode.
  • Feeding them.
