Since the release of the early access version, there have been numerous updates adding a host of new ghosts and interactive objects. Learn how to acquire and utilize the Music Box in Phasmophobia.
Like any other cursed items in Phasmophobia, the Music Box only shows up on a one in seven chance on the map. There is no particular way to ensure that one gets it; it is just based on one's luck.
Furthermore, there is a limit of just one Music Box that can appear on the map. If it appears during your run, simply pick it up and then press the Interact key once more to activate it.

How to Get the Music Box in Phasmophobia?
Like any other cursed items in Phasmophobia, the Music Box only shows up on a one in seven chance on the map. There is no particular way to ensure that one gets it; it is just based on one's luck.
Furthermore, there is a limit of just one Music Box that can appear on the map. If it appears during your run, simply pick it up and then press the Interact key once more to activate it.
Unlocking the Magic of Your Music Box
There are a number of strategies associated with the Music Box in Phasmophobia, all of which I will talk about briefly. But first, let's take a deep dive into really how it works.
Once activated, the Music Box will begin to play a song. If the ghost is within 20 meters, it will harmonize, allowing you to pinpoint the ghost's location. Once the ghost is within five meters of the Music Box, it will start advancing towards the Box. Keep in mind that after activation, the Music Box can be thrown on the ground to lure the ghost. When the song ends, it will automatically close.
Keep in mind that your Sanity will be drained while holding the Box.
Initiating a Hunt with the Music Box
The Music Box is able to trigger both types of hunts in Phasmophobia under different circumstances. In order to initiate a cursed hunt, you will need to do one of the following:
- The Box is thrown when it's active (doesn't get placed).
- The player holding the Music Box when it is playing has their Sanity drop to 0%. The ghost approaches the Music Box and stays for upwards of five seconds. The ghost lingers near the player while holding the Music Box, playing its eerie tune.
To use the Music Box best, you'll want to prep some other equipment first before you activate it. You'll want to have Smudge Sticks on your person to keep yourself alive in case a hunt starts. You then can deduce the ghost type or finish up your other map objectives.
