How to Add Friends in Persona 5 Phantom X

Persona 5: The Phantom X masterfully blends the rich single-player narrative and intricate mechanics of the Persona series with various gacha game elements. While it doesn't feature direct co-op combat, it includes a robust friends system designed to foster player interaction and provide tangible benefits.Though entirely optional for main game progression, having friends in P5X can be incredibly helpful, particularly when you need some extra firepower to overcome challenging battles. This guide will walk you through how to add friends and explain the benefits of the friends system.

How to Add Friends in Persona 5 X

The Friends List feature in Persona 5: The Phantom X isn't available from the very beginning. You'll need to progress through the story until the end of the third in-game day after returning from the first Palace. You'll know it's unlocked when an on-screen notification appears, and a new "Friends List" app becomes available on Wonder's smartphone.Once unlocked, here’s how to add friends:

Open Wonder's Smartphone: Access your in-game smartphone.

Open the Friends List App: Select the newly available Friends List application.

Browse Suggested Friends: If you're not looking for anyone specific, you can select the "Add Friend" option within the Friends List. This will display a list of recommended players you can send friend requests to.

• Note: The names displayed in this list are the custom names players have given to their protagonist, Wonder.

Adding Friends by Player ID:If you know the specific Player ID of someone you wish to add:

In the top right corner of the "Add Friend" menu, you'll find a search bar.

Type the player's exact ID number into this search bar to locate their account and send a friend request.

How to Find Your Player ID:To share your own Player ID with others:

Open Wonder's smartphone.

Select Wonder's menu (usually indicated by his level or avatar) along the top of the screen. This will take you to your account profile page.

Click the three dots in the top left corner of your account's banner.

Select "Copy ID." This will copy your Player ID to your device's clipboard, allowing you to paste it into a message or share it with others.

What Do Friends Do in Persona 5 X?

While you can't fight alongside friends in real-time co-op, the friends system offers two main benefits:

In-Game Chat: You can choose to chat with your friends anytime you are both online.This initiates a private message conversation in the classic Persona 5 style through the in-game smartphone, allowing for direct communication.

Utilize Phantom Idols: The primary benefit of having friends is the ability to use their Phantom Idols in battle.

• When forming your party before a battle, an "Assist" button will appear just to the left of the "Commence Infiltration" button.
• Clicking "Assist" will display a list of available Phantom Idols. These areessentially characters (Phantom Thieves) that other players (yourfriends, or sometimes random players) have set as their "AssistCharacter."
• You can select one of these Phantom Idols tofill the last slot in your party. They will fight alongside you as ifthey were one of your own characters, contributing their skills andstats to the battle.
• Tip: It's highly beneficialto add strong players as friends who have well-built characters. TheirPhantom Idols will appear towards the front of your Assist list,providing you with powerful options.
• Important Rule: You cannot have duplicate Phantom Idols in your party. If you already have a specific Phantom Thief (e.g.,Joker) in your active party, you cannot select another player's Joker as an Assist character.

How To Choose Your Assist Character

To ensure your friends can benefit from your strongest Phantom Thief:

Go back to Wonder's menu on your smartphone (your account profile page).

Along the far right side of your currently displayed party, you will see a designated slot for the "Assist Phantom Idol."

The character you choose to place in this slot will be the Phantom Idolthat appears for your friends, allowing them to utilize your character's power in their battles. Be sure to put your strongest and most usefulPhantom Thief in this slot to help out your friends effectively.
