How to Learn New Skills in Persona 5 Phantom X

Skill Inheritance has been a cornerstone of character customization in recent Atlus titles, allowing players to craft incredibly powerful Personas and demons. Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X) adapts this mechanic to fit its gacha game format, introducing new elements like Persona Seals. While some aspects might feel different from previous Persona games, the core idea of passing on skills remains vital for optimizing your Personas.Here's how to inherit and manage skills for your Personas in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

How to Learn New Skills in Persona 5 X

The primary method for teaching new skills to your Personas in Persona 5: The Phantom X is through the Persona Training menu located within the Velvet Room.

Access Persona Training: Head to the Velvet Room. In the Persona Training menu, you will see a list of your available Personas on the left side of the screen.

Select a Persona: Choose the Persona you wish to teach a new skill to.

Initiate Skill Teaching: Select "Teach Skill" in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Use Persona Seals: This will display a list of Persona Seals you currently have in your inventory.

• Persona Seals are a new and very important currency. They don't act as actual Personas; instead, they represent duplicates of Personas you've obtained (either by pulling them through banners or recruiting them from Shadows). When you acquire a Persona, it's logged in your Compendium, and subsequent copies of that Persona become Persona Seals.

Random Skill Transfer: Selecting a Persona Seal and using the "Training" button in the bottom right will randomly transfer one of the skills listed from that specific Persona Seal onto your chosen Persona.

• You can do this multiple times with as many different seals as you'd like to give a Persona a vast pool of potential skills. However, remember that each Persona can only have a limited number of skills equipped at any given time.
• Note on Randomness: There's no way to influence which specific skill will be learned from a Persona Seal other than by repeatedly using seals until you get the desired skill, or by having the Persona learn all other options first. Persona Seals have a predefined set of skills they can potentially impart, so you'll need different types of seals to access different skill pools.

Where to Get Persona Seals: Persona Seals are crucial for skill inheritance and other Persona-related functions like Overclocking and leveling. You can obtain them by:

• Pulling duplicate Personas through banners (gacha system).
• Defeating Shadows in the Metaverse (especially in the Realm of Repression).
• Through Challenge Reward exchanges (often from Velvet Trials).
• Metaverse Challenge Battles.

How to Change Persona Skills

Once a skill has been learned by a Persona (either through levelingup, fusion, or Persona Training), you'll need to equip it to make itusable in combat:

Select a Persona: Go to the Velvet Room or access the Persona menu from your party screen.

Access Skill Management: Select "Change Skills" in the bottom right corner.

Equip/Unequip: From here, you can choose which skills you want to unequip to make room for the newly learned ones you wish to use.

How Does Skill Inheritance Work in Persona 5 X

Skill Inheritance does still exist in Persona 5 X, but it operates differently from mainline Persona games. The skills transferred are primarily determined by the Persona Seals you use, rather than directly inheriting skills from a "parent" Persona you've specifically trained and passed skills onto in a fusion chain.

While this might seem like a departure from the traditional fusion inheritance system, there's a significant benefit:

• Fusion Benefits: When you fuse a new Persona, it will inherit all the skills from both of the Persona Seals used in its creation. This means newly fused Personas can start with a very large pool ofskills to choose from and use, even before you begin transferringadditional skills onto them through Persona Training.
• Powerful Set Skills: Newly fused Personas also come with their own powerful "set skills" orinnate abilities. Often, the most effective strategy is to leveragethese powerful inherent skills and then use Persona Seals to pass on helpful passive buffs or specific elemental/support skills that complement the new Persona's strengths.

In essence, Persona 5: The Phantom X streamlines skill inheritance by centralizing it around Persona Seals,making them a vital resource for customizing your Personas andoptimizing your combat strategies.
