We have made an explanatory guide where we talk about How to Use FilterBlade in Path of Exile 2.
If you're even vaguely interested in trying the Endgame of Path of Exile 2, you'll want to have a loot filter that will work for you. The loot filters don't just reduce the screen clutter and make mapping way easier; they greatly simplify gaming by focusing a gamer's attention solely on what is really important and saving them from overthinking over and sorting out irrelevant trash.
FilterBlade is hands down the most popular filter manager for Path of Exile 1 and just got an amazing update that makes it work for PoE 2 too. Learn how to use it.
How to Use FilterBlade in Path of Exile 2?
- Choose PoE 2 from the prompt that will appear on the screen.
- Automatically, it will select for you the default loot filter, which is NeverSink.
- Adjust the slider below to select your desired Strictness setting for the filter (explanation below).
- Click the tab Export to PoE in the top right.
- Type a name for your filter. Anything will work.
- Click Sync or Download at the bottom right
Save & Sync automatically adds the FilterBlade loot filter to your PoE 2 account and automatically updates your loot filter as the author makes changes to it, so your game stays current with minimal effort.
Click Save & Download to directly transfer the file to your PC. This feature allows you to download all Strictness levels of FilterBlade, which will make it easier to compare the difference between tiers without having to re-sync multiple times or at the start of a new campaign.
- Start PoE 2 and go to Options -> Game.
- To proceed with the Sync option, simply click on the dropdown beside Item Filter and choose the newly added FilterBlade.
- To download, simply click the folder icon adjacent to the dropdown menu and guide the game to your downloaded filters.
- And there you have it! Your FilterBlade loot filter is now set up and ready to enhance your gaming experience.
What Level of Loot Filter Strictness is Right for You?
There are seven different levels of strictness that can be applied to the NeverSink FilterBlade preset in-game. This is a very important step in setting up your loot filter because it will decide what you will or won't be able to see in the game. Though adding exceptions is always possible, it's good practice to select the correct level of strictness from the very beginning to avoid headaches later.
Item Hiding Settings:
- Soft: Shows all items.
- Regular: Hides useless items with no crafting or sale value.
- Semi-Strict: Hides items with low potential or limited value.
- Strict: Hides most items that don't sell quickly or for a high price.
- Very Strict: Hides low-value rare items, crafting materials, and early-game Waystones.
- Mid to Late Mapping: Hides most non-tiered rare items, crafting materials, and early- to mid-game Waystones.
- Late Mapping: Hides almost everything except valuable currencies and high-value rare and unique items. Also hides early- to late-game Waystones.
- Ultra Endgame Mapping: Hides almost everything except the most valuable items.
For those diving into the campaign for a second or third time with a fresh character, it's advisable to kick off your journey at the Semi-Strict level. The Soft and Regular Strictness levels are designed for brand new league runs, where every item is essential for advancing your character, much like in a Solo Self-Found experience.
Press the highlight key, by default ALT on PC, and instantly reveal all items masked by the loot filter. One of the really interesting features in FilterBlade regarding this is the behavior: based on which setting of strictness one has used, the items appear on the press of the ALT key but their names go so much in size that they nearly disappear from the map. This adjustment is made to enhance convenience for players utilizing the highlight key to collect items in PoE 2.
Customizing Your FilterBlade Loot Filter in PoE 2
FilterBlade stands out as an exceptional loot filter solution due to its seamless capability to implement changes in a preset loot filter, eliminating the need to sift through lines of code. Anything that comes to mind can be effortlessly transformed.
How to Master the Customize Tab in FilterBlade
In order to perfect your loot filter, select the 'Customize' tab, which is situated next to Overview. Find an extensive list of all the possible drops in PoE 2, sorted into categories and then further categorized into detailed subcategories for better fine-tuning.
Suppose one wants to change an icon that drops when a character receives a Divine Orb. One would only have to type Divine Orb within the handy search bar to the right of the filter, and the S Tier General Currency tab will open directly. Further, it shows all the possible changes one could make in the appearance of the Divine Orb, and right above each is the visual of the change.
Click the showcase icon in game to hear what this item sounds like in game.
Color and Sound Transformations in FilterBlade
To change colors and sounds of an individual item or small group, use the 'Customize' tab. For more general changes that apply to the entire filter, instead use the 'Styles' tab. Here you can change the Text, Border and Background for dropped items, as well as the sound effects that play when something of value is dropped.
The color change is pretty straightforward; it's easy to get a clear view of what the item will look like in-game with the filter on. For changing the color of individual drops, go to the 'Customize' tab and find the appropriate entry there.
Change the sound effects in a breeze: choose one from the drop-down menu. The addition of players' custom sounds, in.mp3 format, is supported within the application. Select 'Custom' or browse hundreds of community-added sounds under 'Game & Community Sounds.' Feel free to play around; remember you can always go back to default with the 'Reset' option.
For those new to customizing loot filters, trying out public Modules is a great option. These community-created presets modify the loot filter, often introducing unique visual or auditory enhancements.
This is everything you need to know about How to Use FilterBlade in Path of Exile 2, follow this guide step by step and you're done.
