In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you earn Skill Points in battle that you can use to unlock new skills from one of several skill trees depending on your current rank. You need to focus on defeating officers to win the battle. To supplement this, head out into the overworld and find local skirmishes with anyone using this method.

In a Skirmish, instead of focusing on the officers, you want to focus on cutting through the hordes of constantly spawning enemies. You'll get three Skill Points for every 100 kills you get. There are no loss conditions in these Skirmishes, so long as you remain alive, the action will keep going until you kill the required officers. You can keep killing waves and waves of enemies, netting you about 100 kills per minute, depending on the Skirmish, because some spawn more foes than others, by bypassing the officers.

Continue fighting in the same skirmish until your health is very low, making sure you leave enough to kill the last officer and win the battle. You will get some bonus skill points for winning the Skirmish, and by doing this, you can easily gain 50 Skill Points within a few minutes. Here are some additional tips that will help you optimize this approach:

Equip a spear, as they are proficient in clearing waves of weaker enemies.
Equip a Wellspring Gem to gain health for every 100th enemy defeated.
An Oblivion Gem is a great substitute for killing even more enemies much faster.

Other Ways to Farm Skill Points in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Aside from Skirmish farming, you can get Skill Points by completing objectives in Training. As you progress through the main story and meet new characters, some of them will be able to interact with you in the overworld, offering you Training goals. Many training goals are very simple and can be completed easily simply by playing the game, sometimes without even trying. Interact with these characters in any fight for bonus Skill Points. Make it a point to connect with them whenever you come across them!
