Our guide today aims to explain to you How to use Cast On Gems in Path of Exile 2, let's see.
With all of the involved systems that set the foundation for them, successfully using Cast On Gems in Path of Exile 2 can be very complicated. If you want to use them like a pro and see some really insane results, here's all the important information you need.
How to use Cast On Gems in Path of Exile 2?
Cast On Gems are special Meta Gems which allow you to take advantage of a Cause and Effect clause, whereby you can cast spells with ease without having to put them on your skill bar. When properly used, they become incredibly powerful, allowing for some really amazing combinations that are certain to cause a huge power spike. In order to utilize them effectively, you need to know two other mechanics which incorporate them: Energy and Spirit.
Energy
Energy is a special resource; it's designed to be only used to augment your Cast On spellcasting. It's deeply intertwined with the operation of these gems. The majority of the Cast On skills require Energy for their activation. Gather energy through the mechanics of the Cast On Gem that you want to use. You will need to keep setting your enemies on fire repeatedly if you want to use Cast on Ignite effectively until you've reached the Energy limit. When it fires the next Ignite, it will trigger the spells set to Cast On Ignite. More information about that soon.
Essence
Spirit is used, for the most part, by summons and buffs. While Cast On gems may not exactly fit into the classic definition of a buff, they certainly belong in this group, consuming this resource accordingly. Like all the buffs within Path of Exile 2, Cast On has an essential quantity of Spirit one has to have along with turning it on to become workable. This would lead to a buff icon displaying a Cast On effect popping into the top left section of your screen when performed. Lacking Spirit simply ways you won't be able to make use of a Cast On skill.
Mastering the Art of Casting a Cast On Skill in Path of Exile 2
Now that we have all that out of the way, it's time to get back into it. The pre-requisite before doing said action is to choose an Cast On method you would like to use. Take your time to browse through Cast On gems available to your build and make sure you pick a gem that resonates very well with your setup. Choosing Cast on Ignite can be a great option in playing a Fire Sorcerer, for example.
To equip a Cast On, simply drag it to an empty slot on your Skill Page. It may be slotted in any open Skill slot like any other skill.
Next, select a spell you would like to have triggered via the Cast On. Not all spells can be used in Cast On gems, but most can and thus you have a large amount of options to work with. You can put as many different types of spells into the Cast On as you like provided you have enough open slots. However, there is one major caveat to this.
Setting spells in a Cast On gem does not mean the spell is free. The cost of the spell is unchanged and it costs the same if you are casting it yourself or having it cast by a Cast on effect. You must, therefore pick and choose which spells you want to trigger. Using an expensive spell like Comet can deplete your resources faster than you think, especially since you have no control over it whatsoever when it's in a Cast On.
Your ability to use the Cast On skill will be limited until all of its slots are full. I am not sure why this is; there's a very real chance this might change. However, if you've got numerous spells slotted, they will each retain their regular cost, including Spirit, and using them all in a single Cast On might be impractical. This comes back to your build, so keep that in mind.
It's generally a good idea to monitor your total Cast Time of all your slotted spells, as the energy required to trigger a Cast On is related to the Cast Time-the longer the casts, the more Energy is required to reach the cap. The efficiency of your attacks further depends on the enemies you are fighting, since each foe has 'Enemy Levels' which affect Energy Build-up for Cast Ons.
Not all Cast On gems use Energy in the same way and, especially, the very abstract ones such as the Cast on Dodge, would basically require Dodge Rolls more often to make its affects pop.
Now, it is time to build up the energy that you need for your Cast On. For the Cast On Shock to be fired, you should provide enough shock to enemies. Similarly, the same happens in the case of Cast On Ignite and more in the same category. When your Energy becomes full, turn the criteria of Cast On again to fire the spells assigned to it.
This is all you need to know about How to use Cast On Gems in Path of Exile , just follow our steps and that's it.
