The Controlled Metamorphosis is a powerful and rare jewel in Path of Exile 2, offering a unique way to allocate passive skill points. However, obtaining it requires defeating one of the game's toughest pinnacle bosses. This guide provides a breakdown of how to acquire this jewel and how it functions.
Path of Exile 2: How to Get Controlled Metamorphosis Diamond
Controlled Metamorphosis is an exclusive drop from Xesht, We That Are One. This is the pinnacle boss of the Breach encounter and only drops at Difficulty 4.1. Breachstones:To fight Xesht, you'll need a Breachstone. These are created by combining 300 Breach Splinters, which are farmed from Breach nodes within maps.2. Unlocking Difficulty 4:Defeating Xesht at the base difficulty with a Breachstone grants two Breach Atlas points. Every two points unlock +1 Difficulty in the Breach Atlas. Therefore, you must defeat Xesht four times at progressively higher difficulties to unlock Difficulty 4, where the Controlled Metamorphosis can drop.Understanding Controlled Metamorphosis: Rings of Power
The Controlled Metamorphosis creates two rings around itself when socketed into a Jewel socket. These ringshave variable radii, with eight possible sizes:
- Very Small
- Small
- Medium-Small
- Medium
- Medium-Large
- Large
- Very Large
- Massive
You can allocate passive skill points to any node inside these two rings without needing to path to them through the skill tree. This is asignificant advantage, as it allows you to access distant and powerfulpassive skills without spending valuable points on travel nodes.
Key Differences from Time-Lost Jewels: Unlike Time-Lost Jewels, the Controlled Metamorphosis only allows allocation to nodes within the rings, not the entire circle.
Debuffing Modifiers: A Trade-off
Controlled Metamorphosis comes with two debuffing modifiers:
- (-20)-(-5)% to all Elemental Resistances
- (-23)-(-3)% to Chaos Resistance
The lower these negative percentage values are, the better the jewel. Aperfectly rolled Controlled Metamorphosis would have -5% to allElemental Resistances and -3% to Chaos Resistance.
Chaos Inoculation: The Chaos Inoculation Keystone in the passive skill tree grantsimmunity to all Chaos damage. Builds using this Keystone are unaffectedby the Chaos Resistance debuff from the jewel.
Trading and Value: Size Matters
For trading purposes, the larger the radius of the rings, the more valuable the Controlled Metamorphosis. Jewelswith a Massive radius command the highest prices on the trade market.This is because a larger radius allows access to a wider range ofpassive skills.
