In Foundation, establishing a thriving clothing industry relies on sheep and their valuable wool. This guide provides a complete walkthrough of how to build a sheep farm, acquire sheep, process wool into cloth, and ultimately create clothing for your citizens.

Building a Sheep Farm: The Foundation of Your Textile Empire

To unlock the ability to raise sheep, you'll need to progress in the Common Path of the Progression menu. Specifically, you need 10 Prosperity points and 50 coins. The Sheep Farm, along with other clothing-related buildings, is located on the far left of the Progression menu under the Common Path, indicated by a shirt icon with cloth. After unlocking this progression, you'll gain access to three key buildings:
  • Sheep Farm
  • Weaver's Hut
  • Tailor's Workshop

Foundation: How to Get Wool

Once you've unlocked the necessary buildings, it's time to set up your sheep farm.

  • Placement: Place the Sheep Farm building, ensuring there's ample space around it for the pasture.
  • Assign Workers: Assign one or two villagers to the sheep farm.
  • Paint Pasture: Use the"Paint Pasture" button to define the area for your sheep. The brushwill indicate whether the pasture is "too small," "adequate," or "toobig." For sheep, an "adequate" pasture is sufficient. You don't need tofill the entire available space. Draw until it just reaches "adequate,"then stop.
  • Waiting Game: Placingthe pasture will change the grass color in the designated area. An icon will appear above the Sheep Farm stating "No Mature Livestock." Thismeans there are no sheep old enough to be sheared. You'll need to bepatient. Sheep spawn as lambs when you create the pasture, and theytake three to four in-game weeks to mature and start producing wool.
  • From Wool to Cloth to Clothes: The Production Chain

Once your sheep have matured, you can begin the process of turning their wool into clothing.

  • Weaver's Hut: Build a Weaver's Hut and assign one or two villagers to it.
  • Storage Facility (Recommended): It's highly recommended to build a storage facility and assign wool, cloth, and clothing to it. This will ensure these resources are properly stored and readily available.
  • Wool to Cloth: The villagers at the Weaver's Hut will automatically begin producing wool cloth.
  • Tailor's Workshop: Build a Tailor's Workshop and assign a couple of villagers. They will then use the cloth to manufacture Common Clothing.
  • Selling Clothes: Meeting Your Citizens' Needs

To make Common Clothes available to your villagers, you'll need to unlockthe Goods Market. This is located next to Clothing in the Progressionmenu.

  • Village Market: Open the build menu and select "Village Market."
  • Goods Stall: In the Village Market menu, choose the white "Goods Stall" and place it in a suitable location.
  • Decorations (Optional): You can add decorations to the Goods Stall, such as an awning, beforefinalizing its construction. If you initially build a plain Goods Stall, you can later select it and use the "edit building" button to adddecorations.
  • By following these steps, youcan establish a thriving sheep farm, produce valuable wool and clothing, and keep your citizens happy and well-dressed. Remember that patienceis key, especially when waiting for your sheep to mature!
