How to complete the Slithering Dead in Path of Exile 2?
Servi, one of the merchant NPCs in the Ziggurat Encampment, gives the quest The Slithering Dead. This side quest is among her earliest, with several others fleshing out her character. To start your quest, first head into the Jungle Ruins zone, accessible via an entrance on the north side of Ziggurat town.
From there, you're really on your own. In the early access build of Path of Exile 2, I found that the maps are semi-randomized, so your results may differ from my own. In my case, the Venom Crypts I need to get to are handily located right next to the Jungle Ruins waypoint, which is itself positioned roughly in the center of the map.
Continue your quest by exploring the Crypts and its secrets.
As you explore the southern part of the Crypts, you will come across a room with a corpse that you can loot. This is the Den of the Serpent Priestess. You will know you are in the right place because your quest log will pop up. Click on the corpse to obtain the item Corpse-Snake Venom. Feel free to continue exploring the surrounding area, as you might stumble upon some extra skill gems along with other useful loot and currency; if you're satisfied, you can create a portal to town instead.
When you get back to town, speak with Servi. You'll be allowed to choose one of many different Venom Draughts after the conversation is over, each conferring a permanent buff. The options are thus:
- Venom Draught of Clarity: Gain 25% increased Mana restoration from all sources.
- Venom Draught of Stone (25% more to Stun threshold)
- Venom Draught of the Veil offers a 30 percent increase to Elemental Ailment threshold.
I chose the Venom Draught of Clarity for increased Mana regeneration since my playstyle for the summon Witch Blood Mage relies on near-constant casting. Classes like the Frost Sorceress could reap an advantage from the Elemental Ailment buff, while a Warrior may be better suited to the buffed Stuns. Every Venom Draught has something different to offer, and more than likely your character build will decide which one to use.
With the Draught consumed, your quest will come to an end, rewarding your character with a permanent enhancement.
