Discover essential tips on storing items in Oblivion Remaster. Maximize your inventory space and enhance your gameplay experience!
In The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered, effective inventory management is crucial for a smooth and enjoyable adventure. With a finite carry weight capacity and a vast world brimming with enticing loot, understanding how and where to securely store your accumulated treasures is paramount. This guide will cover everything you need to know about item storage, from utilizing temporary containers found throughout the world to acquiring and setting up your own permanent housing.
Oblivion Remaster: How to Store Items
Temporary Storage Solutions: Using World Containers
In the initial stages of your journey, when your pockets are overflowing and a permanent abode is still a distant aspiration, you can temporarily utilize various chests, boxes, and other containers scattered throughout the game world to offload excess baggage. For the most part, items stored within these containers will remain safe and will not spontaneously disappear. However, it's crucial to remember that
there is always a slight, inherent risk associated with using these public storage options. While generally reliable, the persistent nature of items in these containers is not guaranteed by the game's core mechanics. Therefore, it is
strongly advised to consider these containers as short-term solutions and prioritize acquiring your own permanent storage as soon as feasible.
Accessing and Using World Containers:
When you interact with a storage container such as a chest or a box, you will notice a
"Search" option displayed at the bottom center of your screen. The specific button prompt will vary depending on your platform.
- Xbox: Press the right stick to bring up the search menu.
- PlayStation: The prompt will indicate the corresponding button (likely the R3 button).
- PC: The interaction will typically involve pressing the 'E' key or the designated interact button, and the inventory transfer interface will appear directly.
Once the container's inventory is displayed, you can switch to your own inventory to transfer items.
- Xbox: Press the L1 button (or the equivalent top left shoulder button on your controller) to toggle to your character's inventory.
- PlayStation: Press the L1 button (or the equivalent top left shoulder button on your controller).
- PC: Your inventory and the container's contents will typically be displayed side-by-side or in separate tabs within the same interface.
Once your inventory is visible, simply scroll through your list of items, highlight the item you wish to store, and press the designated "store" button (e.g.,
'A' on Xbox, the corresponding button on PlayStation, or drag-and-drop on PC). This action will move the selected item from your encumbered inventory into the chosen container.
Unlocking Your Own Permanent Storage Space: Purchasing Your First House
To secure a reliable and permanent solution for your ever-growing collection of loot, the most effective method is to purchase your first house. The cheapest available player home in Oblivion Remaster costs approximately 2,000 gold.
To initiate the process of homeownership, you will need to fast travel to the Imperial City. Once within the capital, locate the Office of Imperial Commerce. This building is situated in the Market District of the Imperial City. Refer to your in-game map for the precise location (it's typically near the center of the district).
Upon entering the Office of Imperial Commerce, seek out the NPC responsible for property sales. Interact with this NPC, and you will be presented with the option to purchase the "Abandoned Shack" in Anvil for the price of 2,000 gold. Agree to the purchase.
This transaction will trigger a new quest in your journal. Open your quest journal, highlight the newly acquired quest related to your house, and follow the quest markers. These markers will guide you out of the Imperial City and towards the coastal town of Anvil, where your new property awaits.
Setting Up Storage Within Your House
Upon arriving at your newly acquired "Abandoned Shack" in Anvil and entering its somewhat dilapidated interior, the next step in the associatedquest will direct you to speak with another NPC who specializes in furnishing your home. This individual is typically located within Anvil itself (follow the quest marker).
Engage in conversation with the furnishing NPC and choose the "furnish house" option. Within the furnishing menu, select the "storage" option. Purchasing a basic storage set will cost approximately 735 gold.
Upon completing this purchase, you will receive a chest and a set of drawers that will be placed inside your house. These containers are now your permanent and secure storage spaces. You can freely deposit spare weapons, extra sets of armor, valuableingredients, and any other items you wish to keep safe without thepersistent worry of them disappearing.
While you cannot directly fast travel into your house, you can fast travel to a location very close to it (e.g., the Anvilgate or a nearby landmark). This makes your house a convenient andaccessible location for regularly managing your heavier or lessfrequently used items, ensuring that you remain agile and unencumberedduring your explorations of Cyrodiil.
