Find out Where To Get Pristine Screws in NieR Automata with our handy guide today.
Not all crafting materials are in easy access in NeiR Automata. A good example is the Pristine Screw, which is very rare and, as a result, difficult to find-a fact not always represented by color or sheen.
Although Pristine Screws are sold by Emil, his inventory constantly changes, and it's often easier/cheaper just to seek out the machines making what you need. You can farm Pristine Screw as follows.
Where To Get Pristine Screws in NieR Automata?
The biggest non-boss machines you will come across in NieR Automata are Goliath-Bipeds, and they drop screws. Goliath-Bipeds can drop a few varieties of screws, the rarest of which are the Pristine Screws. Your chance of receiving a Pristine Screw increases with the level of the Goliath-Biped; early in the game, it's almost impossible to get one.
The pit in which you originally fought Adam is a set of locations in the game that always spawn Goliath-Bipeds. It's a great place to farm Machine Arms, too. One downside to this location, however, is that the Goliath-Bipeds spawned here are only just past level 30, which puts them at a much lower Pristine Screw drop rate than usual. With even a poorer drop rate at this location, you'd be able to reap Goliath-Bipeds comparatively fast because foes spawn frequently.
This'll also allow you to unlock fast travel to Forest Castle: Front when playing for a third time through. There're two patrolling Goliath-Bipeds out front of the entrance who are Lvl. 49. While they do not respawn unlike the ones in the pit, at higher levels their drop rate of Pristine Screw is somewhat better. In order to keep killing those two Goliath-Bipeds you will need to run really far away, and then back again.
Either way, a drop-rate up plug-in chip can be utilized to hurry things along at the very least.
Which Method Is Better?

Both methods serve a purpose, but ultimately, for you, it will boil down to two determining factors.
- Load time of your game and system.
- Your patience.
Because the machines in the Forest drop more Pristine Screws when fought, fighting them will take longer to farm, and also because of the length in farming, you would end up spending more time on the loading screens rather than actually playing the game. Use the Forest approach if this is okay with you. The pit is an excellent place to farm materials and get experience if you like playing the game regularly and wish to continue the grind.
