How to get Unstable Molecules in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play superhero shooter, has introduced a new currency called Unstable Molecules as part of its expanding cosmetic customization features. This currency, added with the April 17, 2025, patch (likely Season 2.5), allows players to personalize their favorite character skins with new color combinations and unique Ultimate VFX.

What are Unstable Molecules?

Unstable Molecules are a distinct in-game currency in Marvel Rivals, represented by an icon resembling a clinical test tube filled with molecules. At present, their sole purpose is to facilitate the skin customization feature. If you wish to recolor an eligible costume or apply a personalized Ultimate VFX, you'll need 600 Unstable Molecules per customization. It's important to note that these molecules cannot be used to purchase other in-game items or the Battle Pass.The Ultimate VFX customization is currently only visible on your screen for gameplay clarity and is not seen by other players.

Marvel Rivals: How to get Unstable Molecules

There are several ways to acquire Unstable Molecules:

Exchange Lattice (Primary Method):

• You can exchange Lattice (the game's premium currency, typically purchased with real money) for Unstable Molecules at a 1:1 ratio. For example, 600 Lattice will get you 600 Unstable Molecules.
• To do this:
• Go to the Store tab from the lobby.
• Select an eligible skin that you want to customize (you must own the base skin first).
• Click the "Customize" button.
• You will see your current Unstable Molecule count in the top right. Select the test tube icon to open the exchange screen.
• Use the plus icon to add the desired number of Unstable Molecules. Ensure you have enough Lattice.
• Click on the Lattice button to complete the exchange.

Seasonal Battle Pass (Starting Season 3):

• Beginning with Season 3, you can earn Unstable Molecules by progressing through the seasonal Battle Pass. Both free and premium (Luxury) tiers of the Battle Pass offer Unstable Molecules as rewards, similar to other in-game currencies like Units and Lattice.
• If you purchase the Battle Pass, you can access these Unstable Molecules even after the season ends, provided you've unlocked them within the pass.

Seasonal Events:

• Marvel Rivals frequently hosts seasonal events that offer Unstable Molecules as rewards.
• For example, the Summer Special event currently provides 400 free Unstable Molecules just by playing matches and leveling up the event pass, without requiring any real-money expenditure. Keep an eye on in-game announcements for new events.

Marvel Rivals Skins That Can Use Unstable Molecules

As of the latest updates, the following skins are eligible forcustomization using Unstable Molecules to get new color styles orUltimate VFX:

• Psylocke: Breezy Butterfly (Two color variants and one Ultimate VFX)
• Loki: Robe of Relaxation (One color variant)
• Luna Snow: Cool Summer (Two color variants and one Ultimate VFX)
• Thor: Worthy Waves (One color variant)
• Jeff the Land Shark: Shark Sunshine (Two color variants and one Ultimate VFX)
• Scarlet Witch: Immortal Sovereign (Two color variants and one Ultimate VFX)
• Rocket Raccoon: Sunshine Raccoon (Two color variants)
• Invisible Woman: Malice (Two color variants)
• Magik: Punkchild (Two color variants)
• Winter Soldier: Blood Soldier (Two color variants)

Developers have indicated plans to expand the range of skins that support thiscustomization option in future updates, so expect this list to grow.
