The easiest and most effective early-gameshield can be found in a freshly dug grave southwest of Troskowitz.Here's how to get it:

Obtain a Spade: You'llneed a spade to dig up the grave. You can purchase one from a merchant,but you can also acquire one for free (and increase your Thievery skill) by stealing it.

Stealing a Spade: East of Troskowitz is the cemetery. Along the back stone structure, you'll find a spade. Steal it when no one is looking.

Locating the Grave:With the spade in your possession, follow the main road leading west out of Troskowitz. Take a left when you reach the Shrine. Enter the wooded area just off the road and proceed through it. On the other side,you'll find a large rock with a freshly dug grave next to it.

Digging Up the Grave: Use the spade to dig up the grave. Inside, you'll find a Von Bergow Knight Shield, along with the remains of a soldier.

Looting the Body: Loot the soldier's body for additional items, which may include:

• Flanged Mace
• Crude Padded Coif
• Worn Gambeson
• Leather Gloves

Repairing the Equipment: Be aware that the items found at this ambush site, including theshield, are likely to be heavily damaged and will require repair beforethey can be effectively used.

Other Early Game Shield Options:

Another early-game shield can be found southeast of Semine in the forest. Look for a clearing; this is the location of "Von Bergow's Ambushed Men."One of the bodies will have a shield, although it will likely be in very poor condition.

• Repair: Prioritize repairing any damaged shields and equipment you find.
• Exploration: Explore the world to discover other potential shield locations.
