How To Get The Mantis Claw in Hollow Knight?
First off, to get the Mantis Claw, you'll need to access the Fungal Wastes since this place will take you directly into the Mantis Village. To get into the Fungal Wastes, you'll want to go through the Forgotten Crossroads on the map. Arriving here, you'll want to head towards Queen's Station and pay the toll to unlock the fast travel point for the area using the Stag Beetle.
Starting from the Stag station, take a breather on the bench, leave the station, head to the top of the room, and exit through the door on the right. Now, avoid the poisonous balloon enemy and drop down through the various floor openings. Keep falling until you see a bench icon pointing down.
Careful! Flying enemies and waiting mantises alike will do everything in their power to send you back to the start before you can reach the aforementioned bench. Once you've battled your way to the correct area, take a seat on the bench. This will guarantee that you won't have to start from scratch in case you happen to meet a premature demise.
Save and backtrack, but keep moving upward. As you make your way up, find an aerial enemy and a mantis. At the top, you'll be in a position to fight the enemies or dodge their attack and make your way over to the left entrance.
Head through this entrance and find the first part of the Mantis Village. Start moving to the left, being very careful to skirt the hazardous acid pools and mantis enemies around you. Proceed all the way left until you reach a large lever that must be pulled to unlock the path leading up to the Mantis Claw.
Once you've pulled that lever, head up in to the area directly above, and you'll find there's a bright white dot shining in the adjacent room. That's where the Mantis Claw is located. Make your way across the area, up until you reach that bright white dot. By the way, once you have secured the Mantis claw it is required for leaving this area, either way that is whether you want to see the Mantis Lords.
What is the mantis claw used for?
In addition to having to leave the Mantis Village, Mantis Claw is a necessity in getting the Crystal Heart ability. This, in turn, is required for the Monarch Wings that give players a double jump. Note that while some abilities may not be strictly necessary for game completion, all are required to see every area, get every Mask Shard, or attain 112% completion and, therefore, get the most out of the game.
