Locating the Savage Beastfly

The Savage Beastfly is one of the earliest optional bosses in Silksong, but don’t let its early placement fool you—it’s a brutal test of reflexes and aggression. You’ll find it deep within Hunter’s March, specifically in the Chapel of the Beast, located at the far eastern edge of the region. To reach this area, you must first defeat Skarrguard in The Marrow, just above Grindle’s prison. Once Skarrguard is down, the path through Hunter’s March opens. Prepare for a gauntlet of spike traps, tight platforming, and swarms of Skarr Ants before you reach the Chapel. If the fight proves too difficult early on, it’s perfectly viable to mark the Chapel on your map and return later. Upgrading your Needle, increasing your health pool, and unlocking movement abilities like Drifter’s Cloak and Swift Step can make a huge difference.

Closest Bench and Shortcut Access

The nearest bench to the Savage Beastfly is hidden and initially dangerous. At the top of the tall air vent room in Hunter’s March, look for a cracked sign pointing left. Follow it to discover a bench—but beware, it’s trapped. To make it safe, enter the hidden room to the left and pull the lever to deactivate the trap. This turns the bench into a reliable checkpoint, crucial for retrying the boss without a long trek. From this bench, the fastest route to the Chapel is:

Head right and drop down through the air vent room

Glide into the bottom-right opening using Drifter’s Cloak

Dash across the long room with Swift Step, avoiding a trap and a Skarr enemy

Ride the air vent upward to reach the Chapel entrance

Inside the Chapel, you can unlock a shortcut by flipping a lever after clearing a wave-based enemy room. This makes future attempts much more convenient.

Savage Beastfly Fight Overview

The battle against the Savage Beastfly is split into two distinct phases, each with its own rhythm and hazards.

Phase One: Precision and Mobility

In the first phase, the Beastfly relies on rapid dashes across thearena. These attacks are either low to the ground or aimed at Hornet’sheight, requiring sharp timing and quick reactions.

• Ground Rush: The Beastfly swoops low across the arena. Jump just as it passes to avoid damage, and try to land a hitduring its brief slide.
• Triple Crash: It hovers, then slams down three times in quick succession. Use Swift Step to dash sideways before each slam. After the third crash, there’s a window to strike back.

This phase emphasizes mobility and spacing. Stay alert and don’t overcommit—punish openings, then retreat.

Phase Two: Chaos and Crowd Control

After taking enough damage, the Beastfly roars and enters its secondphase. It summons backup enemies and adds a devastating three-hit slamto its arsenal.

• Frenzied Roar: The Beastfly stops mid-air androars, summoning enemies via descending cages. Dodge the cages and landhits while the boss is vulnerable.

Summoned enemies include:

• Mawlings: Small ground units that retaliate with spikes
• Small Beastflies: Agile foes that dive and drop bombs
• Vicious Caranids: Large flying enemies with area damage and stinger swings

Managing these adds is key. Focus on eliminating smaller threatsquickly to avoid being overwhelmed. Use area attacks and mobility toolsto reposition and isolate the Beastfly.

Combat Tips and Loadout Suggestions

• Equip tools that boost mobility and attack speed
• Use Bind strategically—especially if you’re not yet using the Beast Crest
• Save your strongest abilities for Phase Two when the arena gets crowded
• Consider using ranged tools or traps to manage summoned enemies

Patience and adaptability are essential. The Beastfly’s patterns arefast but predictable—learn them, and you’ll find windows to strike.

Reward: The Beast Crest

Defeating the Savage Beastfly earns you the Beast Crest, a rare relic tied to the Chapel. It’s one of three unique Crests in the game and dramatically alters Hornet’s playstyle.

Key features of the Beast Crest:

• Tool Slots: Two fewer red slots than the default Crest
• Bind Ability: No longer restores health passively. Instead, Hornet enters a Rage state, increasing damage output and regaining HP through attacks
• Moveset Changes:
  • Standard needle slashes become close-range claw swipes
  • Downward aerial attack transforms into a horizontal spinning strike

This Crest is designed for aggressive, high-risk gameplay. It rewards players who stay close to enemies and maintain constant pressure. Ifyou prefer fast, relentless combat over cautious spacing, the BeastCrest is a perfect fit.
