Today we bring you an explanatory guide on How to Get Darkness in Hades 2 with precise details.
Anyone who spent any time at all with the original Hades will be familiar with the reintroduction of darkness as a resource in Hades 2. To be fair, Melinoe has a lot more new materials, reagents, and resources to gather for her Incantations and general Upgrades in Hades 2, so it's not as popular there.
Not to mention how much less useful it is in this game compared to the first. Regardless of your level of experience, Darkness was always coveted in the original Hades since Zagreus used it to level up nearly all of his skills. The only meaningful usage of darkness in Hades 2 is in a handful of specialized incantations. But it's still important discussing the proper and consistent methods for acquiring Darkness in Hades 2 Early Access.
Just to refresh your memory, Darkness was widely available in the original Hades, but in Hades 2, it is exclusively found in the Chaos Realm. It makes sense from a logical standpoint, considering that Chronos is now holding Nyx, who represents night and darkness, during the events of Hades 2.
To gain strength, Melinoë will require some Darkness. Specifically, she needs three times the amount of Darkness to acquire her 30th and last Arcana Point. However, players must advance through the game until they acquire the ability to summon Chaos Gates when they explore Erebus, Oceanus, and other locations if they want Darkness to be available as a resource.
You should grab any and all Chaos Gates you come across once you've mastered the art of finding and using them. Speak with Chaos (and accept their Boon) once you've entered. After you've had enough chats with Chaos, they'll eventually just give you one Darkness for free, saying that the resource is currently very scarce. Once that occurs, each time you go into Chaos's lair, there is an opportunity to seize a "piece" of Darkness that may be lurking nearby. Not every run will have a Chaos Gate spawn, so it's only a chance. Fortunately, this resource isn't needed for much, so the inconvenience isn't too bad.
Nearly all of Hades 2's commodities, resources, and reagents have a reliable farming method or, at the very least, a time-saving way to acquire them.
Having said that, if you're looking to farm Darkness in Hades 2, your best bet is to simply harvest every Chaos Gate you come across and cross your fingers.
Darkness is strangely absent from this vendor's inventory, in contrast to the other late-game Materials that may be purchased from the Wretched Broker for (really ridiculous) amounts of Bones, such as 1000 for a single Nightmare.
Also, in case it wasn't obvious, Chaos' Lair is RNG-dependent, thus Darkness won't always spawn there. So. The odds of getting even one Darkness in a run are really low, and it's all a matter of luck. You won't necessarily need a lot of Darkness, at least not in the current stage of the game's Early Access, because thankfully, very few recipes truly require it to finish. Thankfully, according to the most current (as of this writing) Olympic Update, Darkness is likely to stay a very rarely-used resource in the game. Although this is purely conjectural, it is quite probable that Supergiant Games will expand the number of Incantations and recipes requiring Darkness in future updates, and they will likely also enhance the ways to get it. In the end, Melinoë isn't merely Zagreus ported to another platform, and Hades 2 isn't appears to be 'simply' more gameplay from Hades.
Finally, now that we have covered How to Get Darkness in Hades 2 we will only have to apply it to get it and take advantage of this element of the game.
