Konami has decided to launch a series of collections in order to celebrate its 50th anniversary. However, there is no certainty that so much effort is being made or how many are. For now, only three of them are known (Arcade Classics, Anniversary, Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Contra Anniversary Collection) and they are also multiformat.

Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection is scheduled to be released on April 18, aimed at Xbox OnePlayStation 4Nintendo Switch and PC. This is the one of the three, for now has a fixed launch date. The other thing that is known about this collection is that it consists of eight games, and four of them are Gradius I and II, Salamander and Scramble. Of the remaining four, three of them are also shot in 2D, it is exactly Typhoon, Thunder Cross and TwinBee. The last, Haunted House, on the other hand is an allusion toCastlevania.

Regarding the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, only details about its content are known, such as the one that will include games from the Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES), specifically Castlevania I, II, III and Super Castlevania IV. However, it is considered unreliable, because its announcement will be made much later, since its launch is scheduled for early summer.

As for Contra Anniversary Collection, what is known so far is that it will be partly composed of the arcade versions of Contra (or Gryzor) and Super Contra, as well as Super C (the version for Nintendo Entertainment System), in addition to the SNES version (Super Nintendo) Classic Contra III, among other things. It is known that for the home versions, they were relaunched in Europe under the name of Probotector, replacing the human protagonists with robots; However, it is not known if they will refer to this topic.

Another detail about the collections mentioned, is that the three will include an electronic book with conceptual sketches, promotional items. Also, with regard to Castlevania one, it will bring an interview with Adi Shankar, the producer of that animated series.

Many consider that Konami is not trying hard, given that for quite some time they are not showing anything of interest in getting new titles, especially after breaking ranks with Hideo Kojima. A lot of fans think that the failure of Metal Gear Survive hurt them a lot.

Currently very little is known about these collections that are being prepared, and if they end up being encouraged more "halfway". We will wait for the announcements that will be made throughout the course of this year.
