We had already mentioned in another article that Google had been working for a long time on a project that was totally secret and which was only known as "Yeti". This past March 19, during the GDC 2019 (Game Developers Conference), Google revealed what the mysterious project was about, it was nothing more and nothing less than a Cloud Streaming service (video transfer) of video games, which by name "Stadia".

As explained during the conference, this new Cloud service Streaming for Google games will allow you to play AAA rating titles with high-end PC graphics. This is achieved through Google servers that after carrying out a heavy graphic survey transmits it through a data flow. Likewise, the foregoing, among other things, allows that the reproduction of the games can be done in diversity of platforms.

During its presentation, Google also announced to Stadia Games and Entertainment, a study of development of exclusive games for them. In this sense, the head of this study, Jade Raymond, clarified that one of its objectives (of the studio) was to share tools and technologies to eliminate the limits. Perhaps this last means to make alliances with large developers and distributors in the industry, just wait to see this "plan
of action".

Google is not the first, but if you can be the one who takes a giant step

In the world of video games, it is no secret to anyone that Google is not the first company to provide this Cloud Streaming service for games, such as Stadia. Previously, there have been similar attempts like Onlive and Ouya, while nowadays there is a more modern service than the last two as it is
NVIDIA's GeForce Now, which can work well, as long as internet speeds are fast enough.

However, what Google has planned is something more ambitious because we are talking about multiplatform reproduction: from smartphones and laptops, to televisions. The new Cloud Streaming service from Google, will also present other features such as sharing states, allowing you to jump from one platform to another without losing anything, as well as having direct access to YouTube without affecting it.

Some inconvenients

One of the biggest problems that has always been with this service Cloud Streaming games is the speed of the Internet. The distance from the game server to the receiver could cause the data entry to be delayed, which would make the experience with the game a complete disaster. Therefore it is very necessary to have a fairly reliable and fast network.

However, Google is a leader in cloud services, so they have more computing power and servers than any of its competitors. This gives them a great advantage, because if they have done everything effectively, they could have managed to improve the performance of Stadia so that it tends to reduce the problem of
the latency during the transfer, which generates the delay.

More than the speed of the internet, it can be considered that the biggest problem of Google for the success of Stadia, could be the same Google. This is because this technological giant has a long list of services under the hood without prior notice, so it is feared that they can do the same with this Cloud Streaming service, Stadia. Even so, during the speech, they emphasized that they are committed to this project, so it only remains to wait.
