Our guide today is intended to explain everything about How To Cancel Deconstruction in Factorio.

Efficiency in production with the ability to adapt to new obstacles that come in the path of making a working automated factory in Factorio basically tells it all. These might be upgraded versions of out-of-date techs or a clear area to build a new subfactory from scratch.

Use the Deconstruction Planner to dismantle buildings piece by piece and salvage everything that can be used elsewhere. With robotics unlocked, this really becomes a powerful tool since it takes half the time in dismantling big setups. In cases where you might want to revert your deconstruction decision-such as if you accidentally marked an area for deconstruction-the alternative mode of the Deconstruction Planner makes all the difference.

How To Cancel Deconstruction in Factorio?

Some of you may be familiar that in Factorio, one could use the shortcut key of ALT+D to open up the Deconstruction Planner. Once toggled on, constructions such as belts, furnaces, and inserters can be dragged on using the mouse to break them down. Once an "X" is placed on a structure, it shall remain there until a deconstruction order gets canceled or the structure is removed.

Plus, with the help of the Deconstruction Planner, you can very easily undo deconstruction orders. You can activate the tool's cancel mode by holding down the SHIFT key while dragging over structures marked for deconstruction, but this won't affect ongoing construction or other structures.

Cancellation of planes can also be affected using the cancel function of the Deconstruction Planner, merely drag-and-dropping them off your base.

How to Successfully Cancel Deconstruction?

In the Deconstruction Planner, cancelation can be a powerful tool, but it can also backfire if one is not using it strategically, especially with robots. Robotics will automate logistics, upgrades, and most of your development plans. Be careful not to mark accidentally those structures that are still necessary while you set your deconstruction order. Following are some general tips to be followed during cancellations within the Deconstruction Planner.

It is also very important that the replacement parts be manufactured and ready to go before one plans such replacement of an old sub-factory with a newer and better one. Also, make sure all their figures are in order. This allows for upgrades from previous designs without production delays.

Apply Schematics: Before ordering the deconstruction of a critical subfactory-say, a row of smelting columns or automation assembly arrays-an accurate design of the present layout should be made in advance. If the new design performs below expectation, the previous one can be readopted.

Don't deconstruct anything by hand. It's very easy to tear down designs by hand early to mid-game when the factory is still small, but mid- to late-game you may have developed bad habits and stopped using robots. Keep in mind that a task which a human would take 20-30 minutes to execute could be done in seconds by a robot.

The deconstruction sequence can be undone quickly with the keyboard shortcut CTRL+Z. If more than one edit has been made since you placed it you cannot be sure that you will be able to undo the order reliably with CTRL+Z.
