In REDACTED, there are eight different rivals you'll have to grow accustomed with, each capable of pestering you until you actually face them and sort things out mano-a-mano. Some of these attacks can occasionally be used to your advantage or deflected, but for the most part, they add to level difficulty.
Most of the time, rivals will only launch a remote attack when you're well behind them in the race, thus staying ahead of them is the best strategy to deal with their attacks. You can do this by using your own remote attacks. Lockdown and Static Field are ideal for shutting them down and slowing them down, respectively, so that they can never get too far ahead of you. You can also try and kill Rivals off outright with Damage Remote Attacks, but this may prove problematic since their health is usually whittled down gradually from these sorts of attacks.
Finally, you will want to upgrade your remote attacks in order to maximize the use of them. You can also immediately try and kill them with damage attacks outright once when your attack levels increase. This will, of course, take them off the field and put you in the lead in the race to the escape pod. Secondly, once you make use of Remote Damage Attacks, Rivals shall not be able to recuperate from that damage. This leaves them even more helpless when finally you catch up to them in person and decide to fight.
If you defeat Elite enemies or select rooms that reward Electronics, you will be allowed to drop them to use in enhancing your remote attacks. These are generally enemies that show up in the middle of every biome; they're hard to kill but drop good loot.
While there is a cooldown for remote attacks, it decreases the faster you clear rooms and employ your attacks upon activation. When directly in front of a rival, it will go a lot easier to handle them if your strike combo includes damage and stopping/slowing moves. They are formidable foes; be very well-prepared before facing them in the Convict Cagematch biome, but they are combatable if you play your cards well.
Tips for Dealing with Distant Raids of Enemies
You can try and anticipate what kind of long-range attacks each competitor will use based on their specialty in [REDACTED]. For example, Sark likes to fill the room with gas, which puts you at a constant drain of health, and Zach likes to make the area freezing cold, which slows you down. There are some general attacks that each of the competitors will use, and here are some tips for getting through the tougher ones:
- Fall Risks: Take your time crossing the room. Go at your own pace and play with the hazards. Utilize the zombies to make them more manageable-that is, lure zombies into them.
- Be patient; watch for when the bombs go off. Dash out of them, and if your experiments are set up, it should also help you inflict damage on zombies.
- When the lights are out, you have to make your way slower so you can see the movements of your attackers. Make a way a little better with the help of the bombs in the room.
- Every enemy defeated will be due to that bomb going off. You only can get a quick getaway from the enemies either you take them out one by one, or if you sum them up and then kill all of them together using your range strike so you start a chain reaction.
- These are small zombies that will come at you from a single, usually somewhat distant attack after you defeat other larger opponents. Watch for these and avoid if your reaction times will not allow the usual response.
