How to Prepare for Vulcanus in Factorio?
Going to Vulcanus requires a great deal of planning and preparation. The list will include both necessary and optional items that help simplify your life in Vulcanus. Things that must be brought:
The Processing Circuit (Blue Circuit) is a critical hub for high-tech operations. It requires a diverse range of resources, including:
- Rocket Fuel: For rapid transportation and exploration.
- Low Density Structures: To build lightweight and efficient infrastructure.
- Plastic Bars: A versatile building material for various applications.

Donate: buy me a coffeeWhile Vulcanus is a good place to make most things, becoming a caveman is something you probably don't want to do. Because you had it so good on Nauvis, why not take a little of that technology with you to Vulcanus? To avoid having to go back to burned buildings, you shouldn't begin with the slowest belt. Avoid them all and harness the might of drones instead. Having a drone system set up in Vulcanus is practically required, as you will be depending on them to construct while you are away from Nauvis or other worlds.
Top-Rated Power Source in Vulcanus
It is important to have access to electricity immediately if you plan to bypass the entire burner items and structures. Solar panels on Vulcanus are 300 percent more efficient than those on Earth, so generating electricity is a breeze. Simply connect them to the grid and, for increased power generation during the night, add a few accumulators; installing solar panels is as simple as plugging them in. Accumulators are necessary since Vulcanus still has days and nights. Having a reliable supply of solar panels and accumulators is crucial as you increase your output in Vulcanus. To automate them, you may either use Vulcanus or import them from Nauvis.
Summary of Vulcanus's Production Line
The planet Vulcanus is devoid of uranium ore and crude oil. Even if it says you're low on water in the briefing, you can actually make more by boiling water. Important things that you lack are these:
- Gentle Lubricant
- The material
- Natural Gas from Petroleum
Reason being, you need do your homework to get your hands on these products, including coal liquefaction, which are derived from crude oil.
With the use of a coal liquefaction process, an oil refinery may transform steam, heavy oil, and coal into lighter oils, petroleum gas, and heavy oil. This, however, will not be available to you until you have returned orange potions known as Metallurgy Science Packs to Nauvis for his research. Rocket Fuel, Processing Circuit, and Low-Density Structures are all items that must be brought to Vulcanus until then, since you will have to depend on Nauvis to provide you with anything that needs these products. Vulcanus uses novel materials like calcite and tungsten in their foundational manufacturing processes. Coal and sulfuric acid are two items that you will be familiar with. Here, it's a little less complicated as, instead of converting sulfuric acid in a chemical plant, you can just acquire it from a pumpjack.
On the other hand, the lava on Vulcanus is the planet's most significant characteristic or resource. Iron Plates, Copper Cables, Steel Beams, Copper Plates, and nearly every intermediate and basic product may be fashioned from lava. Lava is limitless, and you no longer need to convert it into ores; instead, you may just request what you want from any production line by adding Molten Iron and Molten Copper.
The only challenging aspect is transforming tungsten ore into tungsten carbide, which may then be used in foundries. If you're going to build anything in Vulcanus, make sure it's a foundry. At first, you'll have to dig up large boulders from volcanoes all across the world to harvest tungsten ores. Use a Roboport in conjunction with the construction drones to automate the mining process if you prefer not to do it by hand. You should convert these resources into Foundries for the time being because they are scarce.
Methods for Disposing of Resources—Mostly Stone Debris
Upon erecting a few production buildings, you will observe that the majority of foundries produce a stone byproduct when they transform lava into molten iron and copper. As you can see in the image above, the most effective method of dealing with them is to gather them all into a single belt and direct each Foundry to dump its stone byproducts onto a line that launches them into the lava. Even though you might need some Stones for other lines of production, like Concrete, it's a good idea to hold on to a few for the logistics network and to use as an inserter on the belt. Store them in a red chest. A blue chest can be constructed whenever stones are needed, allowing them to be transported anywhere within the logistical network. A bulk inserter is ideal for dumping a large quantity of stones at the stone belt's end. In order to avoid belt traffic, you'll need to throw more Stones into the lava faster as your factory expands.
Methods for Destroying Vulcanus Demolishers
Finding a way to acquire Tungsten Ores and build an expanded base is the next problem you'll have to overcome. If you can eliminate the Demolishers and expand your domain, these problems will go away.
The red lines demarcate several territories, and these may be seen when you open the map or use the remote view. The more red lines there are, the more territories there are to be taken, because each red line encompasses a vast territory. Only with Radars dispersed around Vulcanus will you be able to detect them.
Keep in mind that every area has a Demolisher guarding it. That's all. Dealing with smaller Demolishers is all you'll have to do initially. Huge worm-like monsters, they wipe out everything in their path. Though generally docile, they will resort to violence if you dare to construct on their domain.
To expand your area, you must destroy these Destroyers. Constructing Gun Turrets armed with Uranium Ammo is the optimal strategy for this task. Because it deals the most damage to the Demolisher, Uranium Ammo is also an essential item. Except for electric and physical types of harm, all other weapons are terrible. You can disregard that as you do not possess electric tech at this time. It is your goal to construct a 5×5 or 3×7 grid of Gun Turrets and position them within the Demolisher's domain. Fill the gun turrets with uranium ammunition, aiming for a minimum of five pieces each turret. Selecting the Uranium Ammo from your inventory and dragging it to the Gun Turrets is a quick and easy way to accomplish this. Press "Z" to distribute the uranium ammunition evenly as you hover over the gun turrets. If you don't kill the Demolisher in within three seconds, it will demolish all of your gun turrets and then regenerate, so you'll need a lot of them. Upon reaching a target, the Demolisher instantly annihilates everything in its path and unleashes devastating shockwaves. Within three seconds, either your Gun Turrets or the Demolisher will be destroyed. Just wait for the Demolisher to come once you've placed the Gun Turrets. Killing the Demolisher will release a large region, allowing you to build up your base once more.
Unique Vulcanus Goods and Resources for Export
When you're ready to import products, start with Metallurgy Science Packs. Ship these to Nauvis right away, and then set to work finding a means to collect Petroleum Gas and Light Oil.
After you've looked into those, the top Vulcanus exclusives are:
- Hill Detonators
- Surface, Subterranean, and Turbotransport Belts
- Firearms and Munitions
You may level out Nauvis or any planet by destroying cliffs with cliff explosives. If you want to upgrade your transportation system, you should make a lot of Turbo Transport Belts since these are the fastest belts. The next logical step in military strength is artillery, therefore dealing with attackers quickly is also a priority.
