Enshrouded's update 5 has significantly expanded its building mechanics, offering players greater creative control over their structures. Two particularly interesting additions are the Decay Tool and the Overgrowth Tool, allowing for unique aesthetic touches. This guide explains how to acquire and utilize these tools.
The Decay Tool allows you to add a weathered, ancient look to your buildings.

Enshrouded: Get Decay Tool and Overgrowth Tool:

  • The Collector NPC: Speak to the Collector NPC in your village. He becomes available after completing the "Explore the Hollow Halls" quest given by the Alchemist.
  • Crafting Menu: Open the Collector's crafting menu and navigate to the "Tools and Components" section. The Decay Tool is located here.
  • Required Materials:
    • 1 Bronze Bars (crafted in the Furnace or Smelter from Copper and Tin Bars)
    • 1 Limestone (mined in the Nomad Highlands, Low Meadows are a good source)
    • 1 Hardwood (obtained by cutting down large moss-covered trees in the Revelwoods)

    • Using the Decay Tool:

    Equip the Decay Tool and interact with the building blocks in your base. It applies a "Decayed" effect, giving structures an aged, ruined appearance. This effect can be added and removed at will, providing flexibility in design. The jagged, geometric look of decayed blocks can be particularly effective for creating dungeon-style bases.

    The Overgrowth Tool: Bringing Nature Indoors:

    The Overgrowth Tool lets you decorate your buildings with various flora.

    A. Obtaining the Overgrowth Tool:

  • The Farmer NPC: Speak to the Farmer NPC in your village. He is unlocked early in the game as part of the main quests.
  • Crafting Menu: Open the Farmer's crafting menu and navigate to the "Tools and Components" section. The Overgrowth Tool is located here.
  • Required Materials:
    • 3 Grilled Penny Bun (Red Mushrooms found in the Springlands, grilled at a campfire)
    • 3 Goo (crafted at the Mortar after unlocking the Alchemist. Requires 1 Dirt, 1 Shroud Liquid, and 1 Bug Dust)

    • Shroud Liquid is found in pods within the Shroud. Bug Dust is crafted at the Mortar using CritterParts from Shroud Bug enemies. You must complete the Alchemist's queststo unlock the Mortar.

    B. Using the Overgrowth Tool:

    Equip the Overgrowth Tool and interact with the walls of your buildings. Youcan select from various plant options via the menu on the right. Theplaced flora can be removed at any time, allowing for easy adjustmentsto your designs. This tool opens up possibilities for creatingShire-like dwellings or hidden treehouses.

    Both the Decay and Overgrowth tools offer unique ways to customize yourbuildings in Enshrouded. Experiment with different combinations tocreate truly unique and personalized structures. Whether you're aimingfor a crumbling, ancient ruin or a lush, overgrown sanctuary, thesetools provide the means to bring your vision to life.
