Where to Find Thufir Hawat in Dune Awakening

In Dune: Awakening, finding Thufir Hawat is a significant milestone in the Planetologist questline, ultimately unlocking powerful Planetologist skills. This multi-step journey, guided by Derek, will lead you across various Imperial Testing Stations and social hubs. Here's a detailed walkthrough to complete each step and pinpoint Thufir's location.

Dune Awakening: Thufir Hawat Location

The Planetologist Questline: A Journey to Thufir Hawat

Step 1: Start at Imperial Testing Station No. 197

• Location: Head to Imperial Testing Station No. 197, situated in the southern part of the Western Vermillius Gap. You'll find a large hole, which is your entry point.
• Meet Derek: Drop down the hole. At the bottom, you'll meet Derek, who will initiate the Planetologist questline.
• Find the Minimic Film: Derek tasks you with finding a Minimic Film hidden within the station. These films are often concealed behind breakable or fake walls, but your compass will guide you when the quest is active.
• Correct Entrance: Do not use the nearby door; that's actually the exit. Instead, take the rocky path going northwest to find the true entrance.
• Film Location: Once inside, go through the green door and immediately turn left. The Minimic Film is located right there.
• Return to Derek: After acquiring the film, head back to Derek to report your success.

Step 2: Visit Derek’s Camp

• Location: Derek's primary base camp is located just above Imperial Testing Station No. 2, approximately 500 meters from Griffin’s Reach. This will become your central hub for quest updates.
• Next Objective: After the first mission, Derek will instruct you to speak with someone in Arrakeen.
• Travel to Arrakeen: You can fly to Arrakeen using your own ornithopter. If you don't haveone, you can pay 2,500 Solari to use an ornithopter taxi pilot, withGriffin's Reach being a convenient departure point.

Step 3: Chat With Cyprian in Arrakeen

• Location: Upon landing in Arrakeen, head up the stairs directly in front of you. Take the first right into a building called the Salusan Bull.
• Find Cyprian: Go up two more sets of stairs inside the Salusan Bull. In the back right corner of the bar, you'll find Cyprian sitting under an umbrella, usually accompanied by a bodyguard.
• Report Back: Talk to Cyprian, then return straight back to Derek’s camp to debrief him.

Step 4: Go Deep Into Station No. 76

• Location: Derek's next assignment sends you to Imperial Testing Station No. 76, located in the Jabal Eifrit Al-janub zone. If you're unsure of its exact location, use a Survey Launcher and a probe to guide you.
• Find Derek: This time, Derek is trapped in a cage inside the station. Head down the first flight of stairs and look for him tucked between two doors; hisglowglobe will make him easy to spot.
• Free Derek: To free him and continue the quest, you'll need two items:
  • Another Minimic Film: Look for glass windows to your left, go upstairs, and check the back-right wall for a hidden path. The film is located here.
  • A key to Derek’s cage: This key is found in a nearby overgrown room.
• Return to Camp: Once you have both items, return to Derek's camp again.

Step 5: Thufir Hawat Location & Sietch Tarl

• Thufir Hawat Location: Now, Derek asks you to find the Mentat, Thufir Hawat. Head back to Arrakeen. From where your ornithopter drops you off, make your way to the open-air section on the opposite side of the landing pad. This is the Residency Approach where Thufir will be waiting. He's often near the end of the area on the right side.
• Sietch Tarl: You're not finished after meeting Thufir. Derek also wants you to visit Sietch Tarl. It's located right where northern O’odham meets the edge of the Western Shield Wall. Look for a crack in the rocks near your map marker, go inside, read a note, and then return to Derek's camp.

Step 6: Station No. 29 in the Hagga Rift

• Location: Your next destination is Imperial Testing Station No. 29, just northwest of Station No. 23, in the Northern Hagga Rift.
• Entry: This station features a steep drop for entry (no staircase), and Derek will be waiting for you down there.
• Minimic Film: As before, you'll need to retrieve another Minimic Film record. Thisone is located close to the final room, requiring you to explore almostthe entire station to reach it.

Step 7: Station No. 71 – Double Trouble

• Location: From Station No. 29, move west to find Imperial Testing Station No. 71 in the O'odham region.
• Key Items: This station contains two crucial items:
  • A Minimic Film record, found early in the level if you take the left-hand path.
  • A note hidden inside one of the small rooms connected to the last large, circular fight room filled with enemies.
• Return to Camp: Once you've collected both, return to Derek's camp for the usual debriefing.

Step 8: One More Talk with Cyprian + A Surprise Attack

• Arakeen Visit: Head back to Arrakeen and speak with Cyprian one last time.
• Return to Camp & Ambush: Then, return to Derek’s camp, but be prepared for an ambush. As soon as you arrive, two enemy groups will attack: one directly beside the campand another on the pillar next to it.
• Find the Note: After eliminating the threats, look for and read a note on Derek’s table.

Final Step: Finish at Station No. 163

• Location: Your very last stop is Imperial Testing Station No. 163, located just north of Station No. 71 in the O'odham region.
• Final Film: You'll need to clear the entire place as the final Minimic Film islocated in the last room. This station is not overly difficult, mostlyinvolving traversal.
• Unlock Planetologist Abilities: Once you've secured that last film, return to Derek's camp for thefinal time. Derek will then unlock all the advanced Planetologistabilities for you, allowing you to spend your skill points as desired.
